I keep saying there are no decent teams this year.

Anyone who makes the eight is a chance.

I can't remember a season like this.  Literally anyone can beat anyone.

If it wasn't for Silvani dreaming up  the masterplan to setup the GWS in the first 3yrs and entice 8-10 fringe GWS players to come to Carlton while he was head of their list management they would be screwed. He knew very well to have a strong healthy list for his kids to play in (3 boys) He had been in cohouts with Carlton of his plans with the proviso that his kids are all Father son selections and a healthy pay packet this was there way out of the dungeons. A once in a lifetime opportunity Carlscum,Silvani and Mike Fitspatrick have concocted.

Just back from Docklands .... left at 3/4 time.... lousy game end to end play and then ball up or intercept in the forward line.

Absolutely freezing at Docklands.... with the roof shut for a game that started at 3:20pm.

Not sure what to make of the Orange Men.... forwards not really positioning themselves or doing enough with the lead.

Correct.  Freezing for an indoor venue, today was no different to usual.

I was sure the umpires were trying to gift GWS the game in the last few minutes. Good thing that the AFL master plan had another little setback today.

I don't usually get complimentary about opposition clubs... But wow, I wonder if the Blues realise they've got one in Bolton. Am super impressed by how he gets what he gets out of some out-and-out spuds. Very Bevo like.

A lot on here don't rate him, not that it means much. The man can coach, yea indeedy.

Suck a fat one GWS.

I can safely say I tipped Carlton and Bris NO Sandilands no freo and they are flat track no wet weather team (how did we manage too lose unbelievable)and Bris off the break GWS are decimated with injuries and Carl coming off a break.?

Without checking my facts I believe Carlton had 8 x top 10 draft picks running around today.

4 pick 1's - Kreuzer, Murphy, Gibbs, Weitering

Pick 2 - Thomas (spud now)

Pick 3 - Ploughman

Pick 6 - Marchbank

Pick 10 - Sumner

Charlie Curnow was pick 12 and Cripps 14.

That's ten players inside pick 15.  Add Simpson and Docherty and the nucleus for a decent side is there.  They need more midfield depth.

Any team who makes the 8 can win the Flag this year.

It is all above the shoulders

Fire Up Demons. It can be done

Docherty was pick 12, so better make that more than ten players inside top 15.

It is really getting hard to watch footy with sound on TV.

Pathetic Really

Wow the Hawks are 2nd last.  Awesome to witness their downfall and even better they dont have their first round pick...  but on the downside, St Kilda will have a very high pick in the draft.  Can only wish they pick a dud.

wasn't awesome losing to the Hawks I can tell you.

Put a bet on today

bugg to kick 3 or more goals

lewis to get 30 or more disposals

dees to win 1-39

odds $51

buggy is due to kick straight and Lewis loves the big games, knowing my luck we will win by 40

Suck a fat one GWS.

It's a bit like that, isn't it. Not a popular potential premier, the G-men.

Toby Greene missed a heap of simple goals the last 2 games. I wonder which is the real Toby Greene. His kicking was shocking early in his career.

Also, if Tom McDonald wants to know what he'll look like in 20 years, Andrew McKay can show him.

How Nicholls is an AFL umpire is one of life's great mysteries.

The upside is at least we don't get him tomorrow 'Ethan'...

At least not before us or Saints or Suns win one.

I had to work so watched the last 2 minutes on the afl website. Gee how many chances did gws have then? The ball was right in there square in the dying seconds. Good defending by carlton. Not sure what Toby Greene was thinking with that kick into the pocket that went between 2 of there players. also what was with that miss he did running into goal. He should have given the nadball over the top.

Gosh what a strange round of results. It makes tomorrow more nerve racking.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
