Hogan has a presence up forward, something that most of our forwards (cough, weideman, cough) lack.

Needs to return only when he is ready, but sooner the better.

He was at the airport today on his way to Perth most likely with what looked like his mother.... 

Channel 7 just reported that Jesse flew back yesterday.  They said MFC is hoping he will play on QB.

They didn't give a source so it could be speculation.

But tbh I think the club will continue to be low key about it.

So, looking fwd to Goodwin's mid week press conference when we might get a clear picture.

It confirms the club is hopeful he is available for the QB game but predictably "... Demons are keen to ensure the power forward has the appropriate level of conditioning after an interrupted start to the season that saw him play just four matches..."

Anyone with expertise on the matter feel free to weigh in. The doctor quoted Hogan as 4-8 weeks when it was diagnosed. I'm guessing he was thinking of Jesse's mindset and mental demons rather than the operation itself taking that long to heal? If he plays against Collingwood it would be only 3 weeks or so. No rush of course but I hope he does. Imagine 70,000 fans roaring when he takes his first mark and 22 red and blue jumpers swamping him after a goal. It would be the best story of the year to date. 

Sorry SS, but i doubt there'd be 70,000 melbourne fans turning up to the game

It will just be over 4 weeks by the time the game comes around, let's hope the big fella gets up.

He was operated on a Tuesday wasn't he ?  Game is on a Monday.

Would be a massive effort by the big fella, like all injuries/medical issues I just want him to come back when he's right but in the case I'd also like it to be a mentally right deal. 

Getting out there might well be the best thing for him psychologically, then again it could be the worst thing. I'll trust that he and the club will make the best call for him.

I think you're right 

Surgery would be classified as non major but still significant.

From a physical perspective I feel there would be minimal risk pending clearance from his surgeon .

The other two considerations are 

1 mentally able ,I suspect that from what is being said this may be doable 

2 physical condition , may be more an issue considering other games missed pre op and  now.

training for two weeks will give better idea 

my thoughts possible but may be not probable

The club has leant more to the conservative side with regard to player injuries and illness and on the length of time in rehab. Even with Hogan's fitness and big tank, I can't see him being rushed in too early. He's recovering from something fairly serious and the medicos will want to get it right.

I get that QB is a big game for the club and i'll try not to be over confident about this, but he'd be far more valuable with an extra week recovery and ready to go against the Dogs, followed with a home visit back to WA and ready to fire against the Eagles.

If he's right to play he'll play, if they think he needs more time he'll get more time.

It's pretty simple.

Serious question, will he be able to legally have testosterone replacement therapy so far as wada/asada is concerned , if not he is going to be at a serious disadvantage.

It won't be a hard decision. The condition he presents in as the match approaches will drive it - a ready Hogan will strut in and train at full intensity.

Good story if it happens. Better make that 21 red and blue jumpers though and not 22. We would have exceeded our on field numbers otherwise. The AFL would love that to happen!

Even if he did, he would allowed to. That kind of thing is covered under the drug code. Unless he tried to hide it which he wouldn't need to.
