On the game itself I thought Casey struggled to get going in front of a tiny crowd, I fear for these 7pm starts but it doesn't seem to be getting the crowds in with the dew and the earlier rain not helping the standard of game.

I dont understand the rationale of scheduling all these Casey games at night either. Not only is the lighting barely adequate for a training session, let alone a VFL game, so poor is the visibility over the other side of the ground. It's also significantly colder in the middle of winter at night than during the day, thus more dew and obviously less spectators. I've been a couple of times but doubt I will this year at night so poor is the viewing and the quality of play.

Whose decision is it to schedule this many of our home games at night, the league because we are one of the few teams to have lights, or is it a Casey initiative to try and be a bit different?

Thanks for the report though Melon22

As I noted above, best to wait till we learn more details.  And thankfully a reporter has talked to the club rather make assumptions.  "Angus received a minor concussion following a late hit during the game last night," Mahoney said on Sunday..."He reported signs of improvement this morning. We will monitor him through the week but expect him to be available this week."  http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/angus-brayshaw-not-expected-to-miss-any-games-despite-third-concussion-20170423-gvqkgt.html

The club will give him all the time and care he needs to get back to his courageous self.

Footnote:  hope their is video of that late hit and the offending player gets a few weeks holiday.

So a knock to the head behind play. When can we expect the details of the report/suspension? Our guys received 2 and 3 weeks for offences that may have (but didn't) lead to guys missing games. This is potentially career ending. I'd expect a lengthy stint on the sidelines if I'd done it.

Guaranteed the video (if any) will be viewed by the myopic who saw nothing in Sylvia's broken jaw behind the play: same guy who 'saw' Pedo's nose flattened in a late  forearm - no case to answer.

Could be VERY interesting. If you can slide him into the team as a swingman, then the need for Smith is lessened. Could be the guy who takes on third tall in top heavy sides, and slide forward to lead up and take some grabs. Starting to get excited about him now. I love a late pick KP player who gets 3-4 years without pressure, and blossoms cos of it. Imagine if Watts got that kind of time to figure the game out.

I have never seen Liam in action but looks a big bodied guy. To those who have followed him, has he / can he / could he ruck?

Are tackles a targeted KPI for Pedo? 8 is pretty good from the big man . . .

2 more than Melksham for the whole season!

193cm... I don't think he's a flier. Doubt it, but hey, who knows...

Is King anywhere near capable of playing a neuatralising ruck role at senior level in the short term until Spencil gets back Melon??

Not Yet, needs a good solid block of games before I would consider him.  By the 4th Qtr was just about gone even after limiting his game time, in the second half his ruck work was a little bit off as well as he fatigued and wasn't able to run it out as expected.  By the time he is ready Spencil and Gawn would be closing in on a return I suspect,  i would pick Kielty as the next Ruckman before playing Frosty or Oscar as a first ruck.

No, to be blunt.   He doesn't have a standing leap capable of rucking and is more of a lead up style KPP, mind you he has lost some of his body weight in the off season so hopefully his agility and leap will have improved.

What a joke. Tim Currie for Williamstown who is a ball player, never been reported before and actually had eyes for and marked the footy got 4 for this during the week.

Looks almost a reflex action as he was off balance falling

So presumably no footage of Angus at all anywhere?

The Carlton doctors probably put in one of their 'special' medical reports to 'help' the Tribunal give the 'correct' penalty.

BTW the guy who hit Gus got 1 week - accidental clash of heads bit a bit late.

i looked at it (incl slo-mo) about 5 times

no doubt he collected him with elbow

impossible to say it wasn't just  accidental and unintentional (unless you were a mind-reader)

If he marked it diving forwards, landing on his back and managed to get that elbow in on purpose to the bloke behind him that he couldn't see because his eyes were on the ball he should quit footy and become a ninja.

Has anyone here seen the footage?

Is there a link?

Was it as bad a Jesse's 2 weeker, or Lewis' 3 weeker?

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
