Changes vs Freo

Yep only 1 change needed

gawn out spencer in

goody said he was happy with the forward line they still had 32 shots so that's something, spencer now has 4-5 weeks to prove himself at AFL Level and seeing he is a free agent this year could be the difference in some clubs chasing him or not so I expect him to give everything he has, we need watts forward he could have been the difference yesterday if he was able to stay forward

We needed a big body Key Back to help out T. mcDonald. O Mcdonald is not the answer - he might be at some stage, but not at the moment. If Frost is fit, play him.

Spencer in for Gawn

Unless pedo has played well at Casey to replace either of T. Smith or Weidemen, i think that will be all the changes.

So just been reported that Bernie Vince could potentially miss a week with a toe injury.

FMD we just can't get a clear run so far this year after coming off a year with barely any injuries

Was just watching Game Day and saw Kent listed as having a hamstring injury. Has anyone heard any more on that?

You sure you didn't misread that as Gawn?

The listed injuries for the game are- Gawn (right hamstring), Kent (cut head)

Hmm apparently it was a cut that required stitches. Isn't a break or anything so might be okay to go if he has a light training week and it heals.

Goodwin is following the system methodology, similar to the dogs. This is where you have 22 roles in the system and you replace an injured/out of form person with someone who can play that role.

So on that mantra, Spencer will come in for Gawn.

His next decision is to rest hannan and find someone to fill that gap. Maybe it's Brayshaw again, or maybe it's time for Bugg.

Our depth is truly being tested at the moment.

How far off is Michael hibberd?

I thought Neal Bullen poor today and that chip back into the square dropable alone!!

Harmes also not the answer. Stick with Hannan and Weeds

Bring in Spencil, Frost, Kennedy and Bugg

Very high expectations PF, for such young players.

Although I agree the errors are annoying both Harmes and NB pressure around the ball and contests have been great. Both still young in age and experience. I would persist with them.

Our biggest weakness next week is our Forwards line lacks experience. Pederson (if fit) would be a big consideration I'd reckon.

That's a really good question 'Abe'.

I think he is crucial to our long term prospects, adds steel, experience and foot skills to our defence.

He will be a big plus.

In - Spencer, Pedersen

Out - Gawn (inj), Weideman

Vince lost his toenail in the first half, and played out the game. Apparently had a minor surgery on it after the game and MFC are hopeful he will be fine for the freo game.

Vince is tough. He knows we need him at the moment, so I back him to play through the pain if it's not 100%.

Would be very handy this weekend if he is around the mark! Especially if Vince doesn't come up

How the hell do you lose your toenail, was he playing without boots lol

Their midfield is problematic, Fyfe played well and S. Hill is a jet, would send Viney to run with Fyfe for the day. If Spencil can break even in the ruck I think we have better quality and depth than the Dockers.

This.....  We had better depth than Geelong and with a ruckman for the second half I think it would have been different...    Only one change for me

Freo were very hard at the contest, and we have to match that at the least.

Some of Sandilands ruckwork was breathtaking in its simplicity but enabled Munday, Fyfe etc... first touch, who were able to supply a give-and-go for Hill and Walters who are quick. So, we have to counter Sandilands and I reckon Spencer is aggressive enough to make it difficult. I am not sure we have someone of the size and strength to match Fyfe but we matchup well on all the other midfielders.

Player-by-player we are a better team with a greater spread of talent, but Freo gave the Dogies no space and will be champing at the bit to do it again to us.

At the moment I would only be bringing in Spencer for Gawn, but our forward line might need some extra help, so wouldn't be surprised if Hannan gets a rest.

You do realise that OMac and Frost are same weight, I asked, maybe you mean slightly more mature? or maybe you have no idea

Have you got any changes of your own to contribute, or are you sticking with your usual fare of critcising others?  At least he put his opinion forward without feeling the need to sink the boots into someone else by saying they have 'no idea'.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
