GAME DAY - Round 3, 2017

Featured Replies

They get on top for a few minutes and kick the most utterly showboaty POS goals ever. And their fans carry on like delinquents at NASCAR. [censored] ahead of me jeering Gawn when he was going off, telling him to man up.

We are smashing them.  3 reasons I'm swearing at the TV - Shite umpiring, Huddo commentating, and our kicking for goal.
Should be 30+ in front.

How many set shots did we miss that quarter? 7?

Gawn back injury again?

Errors left, right & centre ...

1st Quarter ...

  • ANB misses an absolute sitter.
  • Vince gives away a deliberate OOB - goal to the cats results
  • 4 demons fly for the ball in the hot-spot - cats crumb a goal
  • Jetta mismatched against Hawkins - goal to cats
  • Gawn bowls over a cats player late - downfield free and a goal to the cats

2nd Quarter ...

  • Watts plays from behind in a one on one - cats rebound and score a goal
  • Smith misses an absolute sitter
  • Garlett should have grabbed the ball on the wing - he didn't and a goal to the cats results.
  • Harmes misses a very gettable shot a goal
  • Garlett misses a straightforward chest mark - another missed opportunity.
  • Stretch misses a very gettable shot at goal
  • Weideman misses a very gettable shot at goal
  • Gawn gives away a free with a crude tackle - a goal to the cats results.
  • Vince pushed off the ball far too easily in the backline - a goal to the cats results
  • Kent misses a very gettable shot at goal
  • Petracca misses a very gettable shot at goal

Despite all of the above we're only 3 points down.

It doesn't look like our day in front of goal. We dominated them again that quarter but may have kicked ourselves out of it

I'd like them all to survive the storm. Mostly.

If we can straighten up, we've got them.

These shots on goal a woeful!

The umps are no better as they're clearly influenced by the crowd.

Several players also need to step up.

I think sooner or later we will land some of these shots and it's just a matter of trying to restrict the cats scoring

I'm generally not one to bang on about Tyson but he's been shocking today. He's not getting enough of it and also going at 0% efficiency.

Gawn out for the game according to 3AW, big role for watts now! keep it up jack

We can't buy a goal, let alone kick one, at the moment.

We were bloody lucky they didn't kick another one when OMAC decided to let the ball get through his legs (with lazy [censored] Tom Hawkins getting reward for no effort).

Like the endeavour Oscar, but jesus, stop giving me heart-attacks.

Have you not seen Deliverance? They're all there.

And the umpiring gifts

What's going on with Gawn?

I'm watching this from a loud pub in Lorne and the sound isn't working... except the sound of me losing my [censored]

Did they say what the injury is??

Should have kicked 10 goals that quarter.

Could have kicked 12.

Smashed them

not sure just said knee, doc apparently shook his head so they think it is day over

Apart from the kicking for goal, we're dominating.  Selwood and Dangerfield have had little influence and we're swarming all over them the moment they touch the footy.

For all of that, there is still lots of improvement to be had - if we kick straight, for one, then we could be 3-4 goals up right now.  We can fix this in the second half.

I'm loving this sort of football at the moment.  We are taking right up to them and making sure we dictate the terms.  Can we sustain it?  Not sure, but it's great to see.

Hamstring apparently

If we win this one, its will be massive.

Right in it.

Just cant resort to Melbourne of old.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
