McClure just reported that he will be paid just under 800k
Adelaides original offer was 300k to lever. Their last offer to him was 500-600k

Posted

Does it hurt Adelaide to say he nominated Melbourne? Their CEO was just on SEN and repeatedly used the Victorian club line.

I believe it's just Adelaide posturing by saying 'a Victoria club'.

It means they want fair value and idont blame them. We'd be upset if it eas petracca.

Going to be an interesting trade period because the crows seem.[censored]

Mahoney on SEN now.  Said our offer to Adelaide involves our 1st & 2nd round picks

Edit - and one of those would potentially be a future pick.  Adelaide want 2 x 1st rounders

Well done Dees,

Crows can take what was offered. Or risk getting nothing again.

Take it or leave it you Morons.

Seems fair and reasonable. As long as we don't cave. Adelaide will end up accepting like this as they know he's not signing with another club so what is the point dragging it out?

Liked what Mahoney said. Other clubs offered more than us for Lever yet he chose us.

Also Hogan going nowhere!

Did he mention if the offer was for four or five years? I'm sure Lever himself said it was four but since then I've heard five being reported.

Fascinating that he said the club has had no feedback from Adelaide on that offer. Not only did they reportedly walk out of the initial meeting, weeks later they have not responded.  Very disrespectful and unprofessional.

Mahoney said the trade offer stacks up well compared to other players.  He specifically mentioned Tom Mitchell, Charlie Dixon, Jaegar O'meara and Jake Carlisle.

Adelaide are trying to paint a picture that he is coming back for the money but other clubs have offered more.  Very disrespectful to Jake.

Last year GCS waited to 9 minutes to trade cut off time to agree to O'meara trade which forced Hawks to make some crazy pick trades which left StK with their 1st 2018 pick etc.  Lets just hope it doesn't come to that for us.

I would think if it drags out with no resolution the AFL will arbitrate.

As an aside SEN reported that when Jake rang his teammates with his decision some senior players reacted poorly and Tex told him in no uncertain terms what he thought. Edit:  They also reported that the Crows initial offer to Jake was around $300k and their final offer was around $550K.  Somehow they are surprised when he decides to leave come out with 'fake outrage'.

They are clearly smarting from their GF loss and are playing a hardball game in the media over Jake.

It's not that particular payers believe they're worth more per se.

Lemme try and explain this without getting too much hate haha

So all year, the younger playing group as a whole has been told that the club is moving in a different direction, they are changing things up and bringing in a lot of coaches/new players etc

The players have been drilled into their heads all season that certain things need to change to achieve the ultimate success, they need to be team first and other things.

One part of that is that even though they may receive great offers from other places, if you wanna stay at Melbourne and help them achieve a flag you may need to take less money for the meantime. This includes all current and future players.

Now imagine that the club is going over and beyond for a 21 year old, 50 gamer, and are willing to pay him more then most if not all of the current players, that kinda contradicts everything they've been told.

Thats what's gonna annoy them. Theyd love to have Lever alongside them, but not at that cost.

I hope it's more like he's on $700k a year with bonuses built in or something, not a million a year. That would be much better.

I understand why they might feel a double standard initially, without wanting to sound too dismissive, I suspect they'll get over it. Hopefully they understand that this is how you lure elite players to the club.

The message is still true anyway.  It will be tempting for some players to head off for more money.  They should ask themselves though, is that what they really want to do?

I thought Adelaide were just posturing with their demands of two first rounders, but now that I've seen Brett Burton's public man tantrum, I have zero expectation of them being reasonable trading partners.  Wow, what an absolute tool.

Rockliff going to Power won't help with the Lever deal.

If he went to the Blues, they would be more likely to release Gibbs and Crows would need picks to deal with the Blues.

Pity that Crows are not into JW.

Yea the more I think about it the more agree with the above, we have to pay slightly overs to bring a player in. A player who will hopefully push us closer to a flag, you need to suck it up a little bit guys and focus on next season.

Adelaide are in damage control after the train wreck that was their Grand Final performance.

They are just showing their supporters they are still "in control" of all of this..

Wow, Dwayne Russell really wants us to give up more than 10 + 27.. Absolutely cracking the sads on NAB Trade Radio.

I was thinking the same thing. He hates Melbourne so much it isn’t funny. Saying many people think he is worth 2 first round picks I don’t think anyone but the crows have come out saying he is worth 2 first rounders

Dwayne Russell is a [censored].  Who cares what he thinks.  He has to keep talking or he would dribble.  He has no place in setting the value.  Walk to the draft if you must, JL, and screw the crows.
