The Pies have formally requested this. The proposal is tied to alternating the QB match and the season opener each season.

You know you're doing something right when the pies are requesting 2 matches a year against you

NEVER trust Colonwood. Surely past history has taught us that.

Yeah, the Pies graciously offer to play us in the first round, then twice a year. Wow, wonderful.

Then, they make the request that if they play us twice, that we should share the massive gate of Queens Birthday with them year on year.

Then, having obtained that, they drop the gracious request to play us twice, but demand to keep rotating the Queens birthday clash.

No.

No way

No way, F*&k off you prciks.

TEX did not cover himself with glory on grand final day.

A time for him to shine both during match and after match and he failed.

Defeat is a test of character and strength.

Not the behaviour of a good leader or Captain.

Maybe they have really shirt memories and only recall our totally pathetic “effort” (using the term really loosely) last time we met.

Quite happy to start rotating it.

Thanks Collingwood for letting us have it while we were sick.

We're better now.

It's a good point you make faulty ... and it would be just like them (the filth) to do such a thing.  At some stage they'll push hard to share the gate at the QB clash though.

In the meantime we can set up other clashes with the other big Victorian clubs ... we've scooped the pool first up with the Geelong home game and PJ needs to cement that one (especially if it could always be our home game)

The Blues,  Hawks & Dons would present opportunities too ... Home or Away (rotating year by year) or Home & Away.  We can safely have these types of goals now that we've lifted ourselves out of the mire.

It is an elite spine, if only Oscar was not being considered. The number of times he has lost possession or failed to gain possession is quite wrenching. The whole backline, centres and deep forward lines are elite, at last. Bring on the 2918 season. Just about to send in my MFC membership renewal, too.

Oh no !!!!! Don't make me have to live that long to see a dees premiership. I think I could only live another 650 years, not 900!!

Colonwood has marquee games busting out of its blurter. We have two.  Two big annual games, and we rotate the gate at one of them.

I would say a polite but firm NO if able.

Actually, it wouldn't be polite.

While we are the mugs who scratch in the Kitty Litter every year, and are forced to play in the N.T while Colonwood gets 16 games in the centre of Melbourne even if they are down in the cellar, you don't give them a millimetre.

F.O Colonwood

Of course Collingwood want to play the Dees twice a year. They've just managed to knock us off after losing the previous 4. They're on a roll !!

I'm shocked the Pies want to play us twice a year, every year they talk themselves up and talk us down only to get their pants pulled down.

apart from our last game which i still believe had more to do with us playing badly than them playing well.

Another reason to celebrate our finals breaking drought...   our first round pick that Adelaide owns this season will be 14th at best if we knock off GWS, or 11th if we lose.

But with Gold Coast sure to get a top 5 compensation pick for Tom Lynch, the pick will fall another spot so if we get the job done on Sunday the Crows will likely get pick 15.

Thats a great result for us despite Levers unfortunate injury.  That win vs Adelaide a month ago was huge.

I thought they ranked the draft after finals rather than round 23.

For instance a club could finish 8th after round 23 and then win the flag. Surely that club would get pick 18 (premiership) rather than pick 10 (rd 23 finish)

Yeah BBP.... youre spot on.      It is based on finals for the top 8, and not the ladder finish.

Still, the Crows look like receiving pick 12 at best.

Yeah, but our first pick will be high 20's, so how is that a win for us?

Yes we have, and on latest form, it should be a win for us. However, let's not forget he has had 2 knee reconstructions now, and the Alex Johnson misfortune can remind us that there are no guarantees.

How long since Hawthorn or Geelong have had a high draft pick???

Probably quite a while. But they have picked up some handy free agency players! Anyway, I thought the topic was about Jake Lever? The comment from the previous poster was that it is good for us that Adelaide's pick is diminished due to our higher finishing position - this is irrelevant as we have still given up 2 first round picks that we are now unable to use.

My point is that at a certain stage of a side's development first round picks aren't that important. In other words, a team gets to a stage where it will attract out of contract players - like Lever, for example.

True, but unless they are unrestricted free agent, you still have to trade for them

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
