Last night was simply an imperfect storm of all our defenders (with the except of perhaps Jetta) having absolute shockers. Hibberd, despite getting a heap of it was terrible; Frost probably cost us 5 goals alone; Oscar struggled; and Joel Smith looked completely lost againย

I reckon Lever's soft issue injury history is a slight concern. How many times has he been injured already this year?

All the more reason to get a "leader" into the backline. I see leadership in Jake Lever. Nev Jetta is a leader, but he is too small to do it all by himself.ย

A classic case of being an athlete, not a footballer.

His constant hammy injuries are a concern, especially if they're related to his previous ACL tear.

Sam McClure saying we are front runners along with the Bulldogs on SEN Breakfast.

I hope we arentย trying to get him or Kelly, I can only think of 2 big trades Hawks:ย Burgoyne and Dogs: Boydย (arguablyย would have won anyway and forced by Griffen walking)ย to teamsย who then went on to win a flag, it's the smart trades for a player on the outer at there current side or the free agentย since you give nothing up in return you want to go after. The hawksย are the best example of this, they trageted free agents and players needing a 2nd chance. That or you draft a premiership team like the cats.

You don't have to look far for the converse. Swans recently with Tippettย and Buddy, Cats with Danger, Blues with Daisy and Judd, Pies with Adam Treloar, Taylor Adams, Tigers with Prestia,ย Lions with Fevola, us with Mitch Clarke, Hawks this year for O'meara. I'm sure there are many more but you get the point

Gunstonย - Trade

Gibson - Trade

Hale - Trade

Lake - Trade

McEvoy - Trade

Mitchell - Trade

Omearaย - Trade

Not sure anyย of these trades where guys looking for a 2ndย chance. Maybe Lake and you could say Hale but not sure guys traded for a first round pick is looking for a 2nd chance.

Excuse me for not reading all of the 23 pages but I have dipped in and out of this thread a few times. A couple of questions.

1.Will we have to trade picks and/or players to get him?

2. 600K sounds light in current terms and if it is more what does it do for retaining the large number of key players we need to sign next year?

I hope the Purple Creature is on the money with this one.ย

Personally I think it's our forward line that needs work. Tom will go back and fill the hole but while he's been good fwd, he isnt the answer. We still need another key forward IMO, especially if Sam takes a bit longer.

TMac is a better forward than defender, his kicking from HB is too erratic

Realistically the crows would want this and next years first rounders at least for lever.ย

They can ask all they like, but if he's ooc and he nominates us it would be best for them to meet in the middle rather than him go for nothing.ย

One thing i've noticed is that he'll run into an oncoming tackle while holding the ball low in preperation to kick it. He sometimes just runs head onย into tackles and doesn't do anything because his body has already made up its mind to go for a kick. His flexibility reminds me of Ben Holland. Like havingย a giraffe in defence. Needs to be more flexible with his hand eye coordinationย and get his hands up over his head to brace a tackle and fire off a quick handball.

I'm certain it's to do with his vision and depth perception. Needs corrective lenses. OPSMac.

Good points DT. Lucky he's very young, very coachable and very much in need of 20,000 protein shakes

You'd like to think so. But the middle is probably this years first rounder and ANB, or this years first rounder and next years second rounder.

I'm not sure you couldย offer him 5+ย years at $800k a year but then tell the Crows he's not worth anymore than pick 12 in what is regarded as a weak draft.ย

Done. Where do we sign?ย

If Lever decides to go it will be interesting to see what Adelaide want for him.

Their best offer for Gibbs was '2016 year'sย first-round pick (pick #15), a small slide of an early future draft pickย and former rookie Jake Kelly'.

Lever and Gibbs are at different stages of their careers but it would be hard for Adelaide to demand more than they offered for Gibbs.ย  And technically they had to offer overs for Gibbs as he was under contract.

So on Adelaide's 2016 value system a good first round pick and steak knives should do it!

Lever is no Dangerfield. If we were to hand over two first rounders I'd be wanting to see one of them turned into another very handyย player from another club.

I was more referring to the hawks team that won the flags. At any rate my point was more around not selling the farm to get players in either via trades or big $. Getting someone like Lever in will requireย both these. What does that mean for say Petracca when he comes out of contract, how can the team sell the line that he should stay for less when we bring inย mercenaries on big $

Omeara was a horrible trade and one that I hope demons don't replicateย

I think it would be similar to the Treloar deal.

We pay: 1stย round, 4th round, 2018ย 1st round.

We get: Lever, 2nd round pick.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven Mayย

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
