Is Brayshaw injured or are you saying he is getting dropped for 1 average game?

I think we need a tall to replace Hogan and that should be Pedersen, not Spencer.

Vince replaces Lewis in a direct swap.

Pedersen plays Hogan's role, Watts continues to do relief ruckwork when Gawn is off (although Pedersen can do the rucking in the forward line to ease the load a bit). Watts benefits from being brought into the game through the middle.

I'd have Harmes up forward in a marking role, along with Petracca and Hannan, then with Pedersen and Weideman as the two talls. Garlett at their feet, ANB through there too.

Hannan has shown, particularly in the 4th quarter against Carlton, that he can compete in the air and force a contest at a minimum. Hannan has the marking ability to play Hogan's role and Kent just adds to the manic forward pressure required to win at Etihad.

Loved Spencer's work in the JLT, but Stanley and Blicavs are way too quick and will kill him at ground level, two big ruckmen at Etihad doesn't work, the game is simply too quick. Chris Scott's tactic to not nominate a ruckman against North suggests Dangerwood might even be happy to rove to Max all day, with Geelong's ruckman basically acting as extra mids. Hopefully, we have a tactic to counter this because North didn't.

Brayshaw has looked uncomfortable and slow in his reactions all JLT and both games. He hasnt played well but has been typically courageous.

He needs a few weeks off and not VFL. He is not himself. Im worried his concussions are troubling him. He needs freshening up.

You'd think that in the absence of a competitive ruck opposition they would have a 'long punch' plan. Could choose a spot on the compass and get width from the contest. Huge advantage if Dangerfield is stuck 15 meters from where the ball lands.

Pretty sure Pedo won't be back-up ruck. Didn't play that role against the Hawks last year and surprisingly, Roos (and now Goodwin) think Watts is pretty competent at it. 

I'm actually opting for Spencer on this. Geelong has a big issue with their Rucks. Spencer and Gawn tower over Stanley and Blicavs by >10cm. Secondly, Geelong doesn't have a tall enough defender when either Gawn/Spencer drift forward.

Bigger worry could be our defence. Menzel is a hard match-up and in pretty good form. Melksham will have his work cut out for him and could be a defining game for him if he has to play accountable. 

I think Tim smith might get a look in to replace Hogan.

Good idea and I'd like to see it but I'm not sure he has earned it yet.

He is coming off a pretty good year, had a pretty good VFL grand final and played pretty well on the weekend. I'm not sure about having Spencer with Gawn already there and docklands is a quick surface. I just think Smith will be in the selection conversation.

Vince comes straight in, not sure about who else. We don't have an immediate replacement for Hogan so we might need to go sma,lish with Petracca, Kent, Garlett, and also aim for midfielder goals.

The big risk is Dangerfield and Selwood reading it off Gawn - they are really good at getting into position A or running through the right spot at a ballup at full pace. Hunt on Dangerfield could be interesting.

Given what the Cats did in the last quarter against the Roos, I don't think we can afford to play Spencer as well. We need to go fast and small up forward.

If he played a half decent game at Casey he should come straight in big red. Is the best medium sized forward on our list by a country mile with buckets for hands and as accurate as Watts anywhere inside the arc. Accurate goal kicking = maximising forward 50 entries and scoreboard pressure.

It honestly amazes me at how easily pleased some supporters are when it comes to judging an individual's performance.

Agree with Deespencer re: Tyson. Posters love a statistic around here. I wish those who continue to blindly defend players would actually watch the replay and tell me how many of his 30-odd possessions were meaningful. And that doesn't include little 15 metre kicks to a leading player on his own. They're expected at this level. I rate Tyson really highly when he's up and going. But when his skills and decision making are down, he is truly awful. And for whatever reason, delusional supporters don't like hearing that. The ball was pinging all over the place today due to errors, but if people genuinely think Tyson had a real influence on today's result, they don't really understand football.

There's a reason why GWS were happy enough to let Tyson go knowing the players they had in their midfield group. And now that we've got some genuine talent in ours, I think Dom's lack of attribute diversity is becoming more and more obvious.

Clutching at straws, Steve. The post was referring to the Carlton game. The fact you had to bring up the St Kilda game shows you have no leg to stand on with Oscar this week. He struggled a bit the week before, but this week he was solid.

And the Tyson bashing doesn't surprise me. Yes, he should have lowered the eyes once going inside 50 and his kicking early in the game was ordinary, but for the most part his hard running and midfield contribution got us over the line. He tidies a few of those things up and he'll be an A grader soon enough.

Melksham was an absolute turnover merchant at the druggies. I was surprised and bemused we picked him up, but so far at Melbourne, he's hardly put a foot wrong.
