AFL Round 1 - Non MFC Games (2017)

Well it all kicks off again tomorrow night with the underwhelming Carlton v Richmond clash at the MCG.

Can't see either of these clubs getting out of the bottom 6 myself...

A lot of support coming for Richmond but personally I wouldn't be surprised to see Carlton get up and that would really set the 'Dimmer' season off with a bang.

I think the Blues have a stronger midfield and if they can get on top there then anything can happen.

I like the look of Weitering (can we get in his ear), the 2nd coming of Pav and am interested in the debut of Sam P-S a classy young kid.

I guess it's a bit macabre but a Richmond loss and the accompanying fallout does appeal to me.

see the bummers are doing there walk to the G. They said not sure if Turd will show up. I bet he is there front and centre grinning with the bummers fans fawning over him. Hope the hawks thrash them.

Richmond losing tonite would be wonderful. Also hope the bullies give collwood a hiding. Neither of these will happen though.

like that the comp starts with a game between traditional rivals... be better if it were between melbourne and st kilda at the G obviously...

While I hate supporting Carlscum, I would LOVE to see the Tigers get rolled tonight.  It would be glorious!

AFL 2017 starting of with possibly the worst game of the year class wise. Just look at the 2 lists....................................... vomit.

Lots of interest though, and i will be happy whoever loses.

Would be freaking hilarious.  Their supporters are already talking top 4 LOL

They better warm up their microwaves, they are no sure thing vs the Blues.

Geeez 43 for the brown naggers pulled out of going back with the flight letting Martin take and easy mark in the lead.

think the afl website has crashed, page wont load, so cant get a live radio stream..

Couldn't have 2 more contrasting thoughts on players.

Simpson, one player I really enjoy watching and would have loved to see in the Dees jumper.

Rance, one player I cannot stand to watch play the game. When it doesn't go his way he takes it out on others.

Armfield haircut remind me of a mid 90's toadfish from neighbours.

Reminds me of one of the "moles" from Romper Stomper.

Yes well im stuck at work, dont have a radio..... so ill keep trying...

Very open game. Richmond will win by 7 or 8 goals unless Carlton can somehow turn it into more of a scrap.

That Petrevski-Seton looks a good young player, seems to be in  the camera frame all the bloody time.

Thanks

I'm overseas and I thought they might have put a geo blocker on it... just ridiculous

Luckily it is not the most interesting game of the year... scores are 45-27 Tigers way

Yes its just typical Afl, first game of the year and the site crashes......frustrating. Thanks for the score DJ.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
