We're one goal down. I just assumed we were 80 points down by some of the posts.

Garland is a liability. He doesn't effect contests, but leaves his man.

He has flown under the radar doing that for years now.

Difference in this game we work so hard for a goal while eagles get them fairly easy, can't fault our pressure though

Didn't you know we're supposed to play perfect football every single week, for every single minute of a match?

Jack Viney. Wow. Just wow.

Eagles have the look of a top four side to me. The fact we're staying with them has to be promising.

Watts needs to play round 1.

TMac building nicely after a shaky start.

Me are desperately missing a small defender (Jetta) and forward (Garlett/Kent)

gee we have a lot of poor players that do not seem to be doing a lot, disappointing we would be stuffed without oliver

yep, especially on the bigger deck

8 points down at half time.

Turnovers and a few decisions have hurt us, and have allowed the Eagles to play their game which has resulted in some easy goals.  I don't mind it happening tonight as it will highlight something to work on for the team, as the Saints will try and do the same thing.

On the flipside, we've played some positive footy and used it quite well.  When it's worked, it's looked great and we've been able to kick some goals.

Oliver has clearly been our best, he is just sensational.   Hogan, Salem, Lewis and probably Watts have been good too.  Lots to like with some things to work on as well.  Not even close to the doom and gloom some are giving here.

Reading this thread give a good list of who's made errors but not indication of who's playing well for us..?

There's going to be some very sad posters going forward this season if they think this is bad.

The Weagles were flat track bullies on home turf last season. Horrible away. Hopefully we can become very good at one of those!!

I hope that's a joke.

Watch the replay if you aren't taking note  and work out goals against who you are playing on.

Then accept it.

Has Jack Trengove been on the field?

Centre half fwd line doesn't do enough for us at the present either.

Still plenty of growth which is exciting but a few we miss and a few I'd rather see in so far. Ie Hibbs and Jeffy. Peds and Jetts

Should be a picture of Oliver on the front of that jumper.

I like Oliver.

Good half by Clayton Oliver.

Oliver!

They do look like a top 4-6 side and it is good that we're staying with them. Hopefully we don't dropped the ball in the second half.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
