Bugg did well but I was just as happy with Dean Kent's work and though Frost and Wagner were eased through the game, both were impressive.

Would Tim Smith or Jake Spencer be the alternative for Hogan?

From the last 2 weeks and the JLT Spencer has the form and just  looks ultra fit, played almost the full game on the weekend with more time spent forward than usual and was OK without snagging a goal.   .  

Smith is a chance even though a bit undersized I would be comfortable with him in the side, I wonder about his AFL running ability because he was spent in the last quarter on the weekend and wasn't able to really run defensively at all. 

I would personally reward Spencer for his form as he hasn't put a foot wrong.

Tom Bugg would be a good chance according to the AFL websites review of the State Leagues from the weekend.

FRINGE Melbourne midfielder Tomas Bugg showed he was too good for the reserves in Casey's three-point win against Box Hill at Casey Fields on Saturday, Demons coach Justin Plapp said.

Bugg ran through the VFL midfield after being the emergency for the senior team in round one of the AFL season.

He played 18 games last year in his first season at Melbourne.

Plapp told AFL.com.au Bugg could not have done much more to earn a spot in Simon Goodwin's side.

"We were delighted with his output today. He missed out a week ago and ended up being the carryover. He played at a really high level. He played like an AFL player at VFL level," Plapp said.

Josh Wagner (broken fibula) and Sam Frost (toe) both played a half in their return from injury.

Ruckman Jake Spencer impressed Plapp, as did speedy forward Dean Kent.

Ben Kennedy, an emergency for the senior team, didn't play for Casey.

The Demons kicked a late goal to win the practice match, 10.15 (75) to 10.12 (72).

Thanks KC and all posters looks like another selection quandary for coaching staff. Three reports in two weeks could really hurt our chances over the next couple of weeks. Go Casey, Go Dees!!!!

You've been watching the Development League video (i.e. the second one). # 72 is Mykelti Lefau. Goy Lok was # 30 in the main game.

Mykelti Lefau is the same kid that kicked 25 goals in a match against Carrum Patterson Lakes last year!

One to watch.

Mykelti Lefau has played very little football and is a convert from rugby league. He is a 19 year old, 182cm, 76kg forward/midfielder from Saint Kilda City who booted 81 goals last year including that haul of 25 goals. He has the athleticism but I wouldn't get carried away just yet. The competition he played against in the past year was not strong.

25 goals in a game... wow.. wonder what the official record is. .... Can recall some 100 goal wins but not the individual goal scorers

 

After some googling sounds like it might be 48 or more...

The VFL season starts with a split round over the next fortnight with the Casey Demons kicking things off on Saturday evening against Williamstown. It sounds crazy to me that the season starts this way but at least it might give the club a chance to take delivery of the Casey Demons gear because up until now, they've been rigged out in the Scorpions gear.

This might come as a shock to some people but I believe the first televised game of the season will involve Collingwood playing Coburg. It really is about time that a Collingwood game was played live and free to air.

I will endeavour to relay scores from time to time from the club's practice game v Werribee as commitments allow today.

Is he a Pacific Islander? Be great for AFL to get more playing the great Australian game instead of league or union.
