Just saw a tweet from club saying he is back on the LTI list. Does anyone know if he has done his knee again?

Was in the rehab group with Frost and Mitch White doing boxing yesterday. Didn't seem to have any obvious issue with his knee.

Maybe a problem with the knee or maybe a different injury. Not convinced it's anything major. They might just have needed to back off his rehab and take a cautious approach.

I find it particularly upsetting when an aspiring young sportsman does their knee in a world of so many lazy, computer-bound people who barely use their own.

Well done you've just given the Herald Sun tomorrows headline.

While its tough on Mitch it is a good chance for Joel Smith to get an upgrade to the seniors.

By all accounts he is performing really well and is impressive.

Joel looked very much at home last Saturday against the Bulldogs. As much as would like to see Mitch out on the track again, it's a great opportunity for someone like Joel who could be in round 1 calculations.

Oi! It's lazy, computer-bound people bringing you this little website you're posting your rant in.

And my knees are fine, if not getting a little creaky these days, thanks for asking :)

I thought we get an automatic upgrade before the season available to all clubs without the need for a LTI. Then more spots become available if players go on LTI list.

I think clubs can upgrade a rookie if they don't have a 'full list' of players.  I think we were deemed to have a 'full list' when the AFL disallowed a replacement (ie rookie upgrade) for Lumumba.

As an aside, the LTI rookie upgrade situation is now rather interesting.  Generally, the LTI upgraded rookie goes back to the VFL when the injured player returns.  But, in 2015 the AFL allowed StK to continue to play (Sinclair or Schneider, I think) in the seniors even tho the LTI had returned.  If the AFL were consistent with that, the Mitch King upgrade could stay in the seniors.  It would be a neat move by mfc.  But the AFL rarely seem consistent nor disposed to helping us maintain a full list ie no Melksham top up, no Lumumba rookie upgrade, so I wouldn't be optimistic.

With Lumumba, I recall the AFL decreeing that we didn't just automatically get to upgrade a rookie for him.

My read on it is: ok, that's fine, Lumumba still occupies a spot on our list - we're going to place him on the LTI list immediately, allowing us a spot to upgrade a rookie. Silly ruling as its 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. And if they don't allow it, they're actually penalising us for having a player retire, which is even more ridiculous.
