Is this confirmed?

EDIT: It is now up on the Herald Sun website here.

It's probably best to post links when someone dies, not "just heard".

Really?  Unnecessary nitpicking.

RIP Tangles, great character of life.

Public forum announcing someone's death, it's important.

Vale Max Walker, what an incredible character and sportsman.

Reported this morning that Max Walker passed away this morning

Don't know any details but he represented the MFC as a ruckman

I remember 'Tangles' as a good Demon footballer, an excellent Aussie cricketer and a fun-loving speaker and author.  Crammed a lot into a relatively short life, and gave a lot of sports lovers a lot of enjoyment along the way.  I'm saddened to hear of his passing.  RIP Maxy.

Very sad. He's a family friend and you honestly could not meet a more welcoming and positive bloke.

Taken way too soon.

A very talented sportsman, playing cricket and Aussie rules at the highest level.

Was only listening to the original 'Twelfth Man' a week or two ago.

RICHIE: Security, if Max Walker comes within 10 feet of this f*cking door shoot him ok?

SECURITY: Yes Mr Benaud.

RIP

Very sad news.

Met Max a few times and he was a fantastic guy and always ready to have a laugh.

Sent me a copy of one of his books, which I didn't have and refused payment.

RIP. Max, a lovely guy and will be sorely missed by family and friends.

"You're not allowed in here Max"

"I've got this big F&@8king Cricket Bat in my hand that says i am"....

Had a few chats with Big Maxy when i worked at GTV9 in 1986

What a lovely guy with a huge smile.

Too soon

RIP

You normally do "hear" about it unless you actually "see" it?

I remember good youtube footage but would have to chase up link.

Ok, go to 73.22

Loved reading his books as a kid and obviously the classic 12th man stuff. He always seemed like a really relaxed down to earth man who didn't take life to seriously. Melanoma again... Very sad.

I knew Max for fifty years and first met him when we started architecture together at RMIT. He was a great guy in all respects of his life. Let's hope that Daniel Andrews honours him with a State Funeral in the same way that Jeff Kennet honoured Teddy Whitten!

Poor Tangles.

RIP.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
