Wow, so my mate that goes to training and suggested early on that  Farmer wearing 48 was a very good indication he would be added to the list was proved correct. No surprise that "Turner" who casually scrolled past on some socials and didn't exactly stop for a forensic analysis was underwhelming.

I know I'm prone to a few barbs at some posters on here and everyone is entitled to an opinion, I'm sure many have an opinion of me. All I can say is Welcome to the Best Club in the AFL KOBE FARMER!!

Yeah, yeah sure. I must have missed the other "train - on" player.

Kozzy is in SA atm isn't he? Or did he get back in time for this?

Unconvincing isn't it?!

If you listen to Ben Gibson on the latest "Gus and Gawny" it explains everything.

Jeff Farmer, who was the first indigenous AFL player to kick 400 goals, was drafted in an exchange for Phil Gilbert! Maybe draft position is only a moderate predictor!

Ben Brown, Koz Pickett.

Is inclusion of a player in the photo a definitive indication that they will be given a spot on the list?

No.

The way I look at it is they've taken team photos with Kobe and Deakyn in it. If selected by the Dees then they'll release the ones they are in. If not selected, then they will only release the photos whatever ones they are not in.

They would have taken team photos with both kids from an individual and also both at once.

Brown was in surgery. But why no Pickett?

Shock horror, I'm sure there are no examples of outstanding players not taken in the first round :)  Gee, if I could only think of even one...

Ok, I'm always happy to be proven wrong and own the mistakes I make and obviously missed Deakyn also being in the team photo.

Lets be real. We had both the Wagners on our list for 3 years. Surely Kobe Farmer, son of a great gets a gig for a year??

Poor logic, D.Reemer.  If we based recruitment on being a son of a great, we'd currently have Jake Lovett and Garry Lyon's three boys on the list.

I'm only interested in Kobe if he's up to AFL standard.  His breeding is irrelevant.

Well we won that trade

Also you don't want to lower the bar for Father Son selections, they need to earn their spot not just given it.

What ever happened to the Clubs Father/Daughter Academy.

It's only a rookie spot, so it's worth a crack. If he doesn't improve then we part ways. But I'd like him to have the year to prove his worth. Next year Woey's son is in the draft and I hope we take him too. He's supposed to be very good.

I hope we take him but only if he is good, not because of his bloodlines.

We haven’t won many, but that one certainly was gold

I wonder if  indigenous players  are more likely to have father son go on to play AFL  if someone could research to find out

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
