Nice to finally know your constant ego-inflating over having inside info is all trash though.

Thanks again for the personal insult. I won't retaliate.

Don't care if this isn't real. This is generating so much laughter and joy in my day at the moment.

I'm sure this guy is full of [censored], but if that happens then LOL.

Makes sense too -- a replacement for Mitchell, and they now have pick 14 to offer GC (plus players).

Exactly.  West Coast would be looking at a third round pick going "that's a Dean Kent, or a Mark Hutchings.  Hawthorn shouldn't get shot at a 10 year player *and* salary cap relief so we can get one year out of a player".

The true compensation for Hawthorn is urgent salary cap relief.  The exchange of picks is just to satisfy the AFL rules for a proper deal.

But Hawks also need something to offer GCS as a trade for O'Meara. As it stands at the moment, they don't have anything to trade that would satisfy GCS.

Or do they think that O'Meara will do a Luke Ball and put such a high price tag on his head that he'll get to the PSD and only the Hawks will have enough salary cap room?

Well considering the cards vested parties are willing to play, would something like this work:

Melbourne give up Dunn and 2nd round pick to Brisbane
Melbourne give up 3rd round pick to Hawthorn
Brisbane give up Rockliff to Gold Coast
Hawthorn give up next years first round pick to Gold Coast
Hawthorn give up Lewis to Melbourne
Hawthorn give up 2nd round pick to Gold Coast
GC give up pick 19 or 24 to melbourne
GC give up O'Meara to Hawthorn

* Melbourne give Essendon next years 2nd rounder as 19/24 is to high!

Yep, that's the context for my comments.  I don't have your sources but what you said sounded right to me.

Melbourne fans can probably hold off on the "Essendon are bastards to trade with" calls for a few years after this.  I'm not unhappy though.

...the bastards... bit is ok

I thought he was too but he's been in the money this morning about gc and other team officials coming to blows last night. Apparently it was a swans official and something to do with swans making play for o'meara.

Swans and Gc been in mediation all morning. He's been all over it.

I'm enjoying developments myself.

Dons on the rack to play ball and trade Hibberd for 2017 2nd Round, Hawks sweating over  2nd B&F player wanting to defect to us, and now Prestia deal with Tigers stalling...

Seems perfectly poised as we turn for the run home.

Better do these deals in order or else someone could jump in first and gazump us...

The latest is that Lewis definitely wants out and Dees and Hawks are discussing it as we speak just on SEN now

Interesting I heard a guy on the radio yesterday saying it is starting to look like the MFC  after the 64 Premiership.

From my now fading memory there are some similarities.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next year or two.

As I mentioned earlier our slide all started when Smith was happy for Barassi to leave for Carlton to learn the coaching caper and later return to replace him. Smith sacked re-instated but the place was never the same even thought to be cursed.

SEN Just said Lewis wants out and is negotiating with the dees.

So it continues.

Awkward considering Hawthorn's list manager Graham Wright literally just said he's staying at the Hawks.

LEWIS STILL WANTS OUT?

AFL.com.au has been told that Jordan Lewis and his management are still in discussions with the Demons about a trade this afternoon. It's understood the Hawthorn midfielder remains keen to be traded.

Best part is that Hawthorn have shown their hand with the Mitchell/Eagles trade.

Our 3rd rounder would be the absolute maximum we would need to trade.

Welcome to the Melbourne Football Club Mr Lewis.

I made this point a few weeks back. If true it is an enormous loophole...... why limit it to coaching.... the job could be anything

Surely you cannot commit to a job after football and it is outside the salary cap.

For example we want to get Garland out of our salary cap so we offer him his existing salary plus a one year sweetener to retire from the MFC list and be an "on field mentor" at Casey. It cannot be that easy.

It isn't - Garland's salary would still be counted towards the salary cap for that year, despite no longer being on our list.

If he gets a pay rise when he transitions in to coaching, the club is then paying someone 2-3x the average wage of an assistant coach (which counts towards the coaching department soft cap).

Then apparently at the end of the press conference, when asked about Lewis being in talks with the Dees right now Wright said: "You'd have to ask his manager that"...

There's a fair rumour that this is exactly what they're planning! Well spotted Akum.

Would love to be a fly on the wall in the Hawks inner sanctum to see just how this has happened, how can a bloke as loyal as Lewis be chatting to a different club and have the Hawks so clearly annoyed at him wanting to leave despite all reports saying he wants to leave because of what they've said/done.

the same day as a club legend is traded to WCE

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
