Around The Grounds - ROUND 23

Deemented Are Go!

I know they've been ravaged by injuries, but the Bulldogs finish 7th. I wonder how they'll measure their season. People probably hoped for a bit more from them, but as I say, injuries have somewhat prevented that.

If they had won today  (bloody well should have beaten freo) they would have been one game away from top of the ladder    extraordinary close season up toe pointy end of the ladder

Hawthorn reigning 3 times premiers and finished top 4.

Melbourne no premiership since 64, finished 11th.

Let's not get too carried away...

Geez you can be hard work.

Fitzy has played in twice as many wins for Melbourne than he has for Hawthorn... Does that help?

;)

Now you're getting it.

Although, after today, you'd have to argue that if we'd have kept him we would've been top four.

Very happy for Fitzy. Always liked his persistence despite health/injuries/baby giraffe issues. Went to the Melb vs WB game last year where he towelled up Boys and thought there might just be something good inside those spindly limbs worth waiting for.

The one time I have barracked for Collingwood and they let me down at the post.  Bloody annoying.

Anyone else struggle through the first weekend of the dees not playing?

wasnt even any finals to distract us. Wtf are the afl thinking having a bye now. Lose all momentum.

I was so desperate I almost watched an NRL game.

Absolutely one of the dumbest decisions the AFL has made, just feels like the season is completely over, and like you said, lost all momentum.

The Storm v Cronulla game was very good. Top of the table clash with the Storm ending the season on top.

Incredible how the Storm are so competitive year after year. Much to like about them but those colours are not exactly high fashion !!

100% agree. I was holed up in rainy Daylesford all weekend. My husband has the flu and slept. The TV was pretty ordinary and there was not even an AFL game to watch and kill a bit of time. To make matters worse, Channel 7 did not play the Casey VFL game. Very disappointing.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
