So a reliable friend was talking a best 22 high profile young Essendon player and asked if they'll miss Hibberd.

The response was - nah mate, he hasn't run in a year, his knee is stuffed.

Hope we haven't brought another lemon.

He ran pretty quickly at the running of the bulls.

If that's what was said, I find it humorous that an Essendrug person might expect to be taken seriously about medical prognosis.

I'm sure we did our due diligence. Who is the other "lemon"? I can't remember one since Mitch Clark.

Dawes, Lumumba and Melksham missing a year.

Hmmm, fair chance he'd have to have passed a thorough medical :pj:

Your mate's comment is right up there with a Hawk supporter telling me last week that he's not that unhappy to see Lewis go...what a load of bollocks!

I reckon we all do that though don't we?

plenty were talking Jesse Hogan down before he re-signed, it seems once a player looks like leaving a club suddenly that club doesn't rate the player nearly as highly.

he passed a medical and is expected to start pre-season right away so there can't be any huge issues.

I've got a stack of Essendon supporter mates who say otherwise.

Reckon Goodwin and McCartney know a thing or two about these players too.

Hibberd is a very good player and I reckon Melksham will be a lot better than some people here seem to think.

Relevantly, Essendon wanted to keep both players.

Suggests to me that their medicos didn't share your mate's view that Hibberd's knee is stuffed.

Part of the reason was to stop a flood of players leaving.

Not sure that'd be reason enough to put a new 3 year contract on the table to a 'stuffed' player with a bung knee.

Suspect it had more to do with the fact that he was highly rated within the club, evidenced by his regular top 5 finishes in their B&F, and he's still got a lot of good footy ahead of him.

High-profile young Dons' player? Was it Joe or Zach? Subject to definition but I'm not sure how many others meet this profile description.

1st game for the club and it was a ripper!

18 kicks, 9 handballs, 6 marks and a brilliant goal. Arguably our best player.

He owns the hbf position now. Just what we needed.

Great game. And I don't know why I was surprised, but having a left footer off half back was clearly useful. Numerous times a right footer would have struggled to execute.

Now stay injury free.

He was unreal. And he was good going back the other way. When time is nigh for Bernie, he'll take over that role. Now we just need Oscar to come on, and find another tall and the defense will be tight for a while with Jetta, Hunt and Lewis.

I bet Balls is pleased, carries #14 well.

Excellent debut!

Ecactly the player we've been crying out for, for years. Ball use & compsure off half back he'll be a gun for years to come. Great pick up

I saw a poster on bomberblit write something along the lines of "if all our players have hit a wall because of the 12 month ban how come it's not affecting Hibberd"

Hibberd is clear as day evidence that kicking skills, decision making and general attack on the ball are all qualities you either have in spades or you're lacking.

ie - the fact he missed most of the pre-season with the main group counts for nothing.

He straightens us up to no end.

I love the guy.

Some take seasons to win me over.

Hibberd took 5 minutes.

Gun.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
