IN: Grimes, ANB, Harmes, Garlett
OUT: vB, Oliver, Omac, Kennedy

vB needs to go have ankle surgery, get himself right and come back either through good VFL form or ready himself for preseason.

Oliver is one of my faves, but think he'd benefit from a couple of weeks at Casey where we can manage his work load. Don't want to run him into the ground and he seems tired.

OMac needs to go back to VFL for a couple of weeks. He shouldn't be playing as much as he is, he's just flat out not ready. Will be ok, but needs to build his strength, confidence and ball use.

Kennedy just didn't impact the game enough to keep his spot. Jeffy hasn't been great at VFL level, but some players just don't perform at that level. Time to bring him back for another chance.

Grimes has earned a shot. Deserves it. Same with ANB. Harmes will be better for the rest i think.

Matty Jones close, but just on fitness I'd rather one more game at VFL first.

You'd think Vince will get a week.  so at least one out. Kennedy/Stretch/Jetta were poor yesterday.

Out Vince  -  in Brayshaw

Out Stretch -  In Harmes

we are in an awkward position with Garlett as he was dropped for certain reasons and hasnt really performed.  but he is the type of player that will not play great in the 2's IMO.  Roosey will lose some face if he picks him si I expect to wait until he has a high tackle game

At this stage I would be looking at:

Garland for Oscar McDonald (soft, lacking intensity, 18 months away)

Matt Jones for Vince (suspended)

Grimes for Wagner (makes too many dumb decisions)

Lucky: Trengove, Stretch, Vandenberg, Dawes, Kennedy

Everyone was slow today, Trenners stood out because people have labelled him slow and therefore were looking for it.  Watch Oliver, Jones and Viney try to chase in those conditions, your legs are like concrete shoes.  If you are talking about slow decision making or reactions, i am pretty sure he was not the only one yesterday, and in his previous games these have been fine.  His positives certainly out weigh the slow tag.  The game is not all about speed, you have to be smart and a good user of the ball and it's rare that a player has all of these qualities in abundance. And this a general comment, not directed at anyone in particular.

Kennedy was crap yesterday, and Kent needs to look into he boot decisions, I wish there was a stat for how many times a player fell over coz i bet he has the record and it's not just in the wet he does it either.

I thought Oscars last few weeks have been a lot better, apart from the mark he dropped.

I think the Casey boys did well but they were playing a pretty ordinary team so I am not sure if you can take the last performance into account.  That being said, if they do, then Garlett needs another week there, only kicked 1 goal in a very dominant performance by the team.

Matt Jones deserves a call up, only lost his spot through injury and I think Stretch may be the one to come out for him.

So to sum it up:

Out: Stretch

In: M. Jones

I watched viney chase Rohan and come within an inch of catching him, thats not easy, Rohan is pretty quick. Trengrove has looked very slow every week..  He will be fine when we are in control of the footy like last week but is a liability when we cant get a hand on it, too slow to chase and cant win a loose ball because he gets beaten to it. He need to play like Sam Mitchell with the cheap ones out the back and pinpoint passing but I just dont think he can. I dont think we can afford to carry him right now. Dont completely give up on him yet, but hope is fading of him being the best 22 player people wanted. Brayshaw, Harmes, Salem all have bigger futures, and thats just as a start...

100% Agree on M Jones, needs to come in was good before injury and is really pushing to earn more time on the list, in a midfield that hopefully will become very challenging to break into. I think Stretch will be good after the bye but agree he has stuggled last few weeks. I just like the idea of having Stretch and Jones on each wing though, they both are great runners who can spread well. Jones might be maligned by many but he provides better spread than anyone on the team he is just willing to run and run and run.

Viney was a bad example, I just do not want to write Trenners off because of his lack of speed.

I can not for the life of me think who the other wingman is.

Oscar has improved nearly every week, needs to stay in

FWIW I disagree on wagners decision making, but that point aside, you want to bring Grimes in as a replacement for that? have you not watched Grimes play before? his decision making and diposal very frequently lets him down.

Alot of people get off for what vince did but given his record already this year they might make a point to give him a week.

Mind boggling I would give him an extended run at Casey similar to what they did with CP5 make him absolutely smash the door in. He is capable and I want him up and fiering when he comes in.

Oscar is way off the pace and a liability. He might make it, but we shouldn't be gifting him games.

And Grimes for Wagner is a bit of deck chair shuffling, but we need reward his good form at Casey.

He looked much better when moved to the midfield, but I wouldn't be surprised if my boy vandenBerg is dropped.

All this talk of a rest is stupid, that's what the bye is for and while the Sydney game was a hard slog Melbourne had a nine day break before the Collingwood game.

I have that consern too, but right now i think Jones is the better option. Given what Wagner and Hunt have shown as rebounders maybe Salem could move up to a wing next year? Vince is doing a good job as the sweeper when he isnt getting himself supended. Maybe get a wingman in the draft 2nd/3rd rounder pick a kid who can run for days with reasonable disposal. I like JKH on the wing but he just cant get his body right at the moment. We just seem to be playing with 1 wingman and an extra man inside, which means we get killed on the outer if we dont win the clearance.

I agree we shouldnt be gifting games but based on his last month i dont think they are gifts, he is improving week to week so dropping him would be harsh. I agree bringing him in to begin with was questionable but now he is in I dont think he should come out.

If you wanna reward Grimes bring him in for Trenners maybe for the wing role discussed above?

Will depend heavily on weather...

Dry Conditions:

In: Matt Jones, Garlett, Harmes

Out: Oliver, Trengove, VB

Wet Weather:

In: Harmes, ANB, Grimes

Out: VB, Dawes, Stretch

** No change on Vince yet **

If you look at their bottom eight Vs our bottom eight there is plenty of scope for change, plus we played 7 genuine talls yesterday in swampy conditions? A two week rest will do them all a lot of good but think that Harmes, Garlett and ANB should come in, I would leave Gus in VFL to fully regain confidence and fitness. - Go Dee's

Same people who said he wasn't ready and shouldn't have come in against Essendon..

Id give him a good block of 4 weeks at Casey before he is even considered personally.

Adelaide play with 4 tall forwards. No way Oscar McDonald will be dropped unless it's for Garland, and I don't see the need for that yet.

Vince probably gets a week. Matt Jones in, Bugg to half back.

Otherwise it's a question of whether we need to change up any of the other bottom 6 types, with Harmes the main candidate to come in. Personally I'd go Harmes for Trengove and send Trenners back to Casey to work on his speed and spread from the contest. One more week for Vanders, Kennedy, Oliver, Dawes etc. There's not a lot pushing up at Casey and after the bye is probably the wrong time to be too reactive.

We gave Jeff a lifeline from stuck in the VFL at Carlton straight in to our best 22, but I don't want to do it now, not when he's got a 3 year deal coming up. He needs to put the runs on the board at VFL level and show that his defensive game and ball winning are up to scratch. He can have a pass for the game played out in a bog, but with Casey winning by 90 points on the weekend there's no excuse for not playing well as a small forward.

Depends what he was asked to work on I guess. From what I've heard, his forward pressure was pretty good, maybe that was the specific area? Don't know.

Sorry for moving off subject, but I am flying in from Singapore for my first game in 2 years v Adelaide and wanted to take my young daughter to Dees training next week..

When do they normally announce the training times? Does anyone know what days we normally have open training before a Sunday game?

Thanks in advance!

Vince will play V's Adelaide.

Can accept $1000.

Lucky boy but great that he can play his old mob.

How many times has he cracked a mention in the MRP this year - five?

Bernie must have some mates on the MRP - he's been very luck a couple of times this year.

Great player, but needs to pull his head in sometimes; he's too valuable to us to be suspended.

Maybes:

Matt Jones for Stretch.

White for Jetta - heresy I know, but Nev has been a bit off the last couple of weeks, and I wonder if he isn't carrying something.

Hard to see many changes, however it goes.

Tough match coming up but thankfully the boys have a break and can watch them play Friday night and most likely win.

Hopefully come Sunday they will be mega excited about stopping arguably the best attack in the AFL at the moment.

To the guy who said Jetta should be dropped - on the one hand you have highlighted his poor form of the past three weeks, but seem oblivious to the fact that this is his Grand Final game - he loves playing on Eddie and that's where he'll play.

To the guy that wants O-Mac out. Yes he is not physical enough yet, but the club has already decided he's a project tall and he's started to show signs that he may be really handy next year. This is also one game where he has a clear match-up with Lynch his most likely opponent. That leaves Frost (another project) on Jenkins and T-Mac always plays Tex. If they load up again with McGovern then there's a case for Garland to come back in as well to counter that height. But I suspect we'll leave him out again and use Vince on him.

Hunt will get their burst player Cameron I hope (even if he has to play up on the wing) and Wags will take Douglas.

Apart from Garland coming back in if Crows go big, there's really only one certainty - Harmes. My guess is that he'll replace Trengove.

There's quite a few calling for Matt Jones and you may be right this week - although given I seem to be about the only one who doesn't actually remember what amazing bits of play he did in his first four games, nor his first 55 for that matter, then I'm afraid I won't be calling for Mr Mediocre to come in. If we wanted a linkman who doesn't take the game on, then why the hell did we get rid of Cale Morton? That said, I suspect Matt Jones will still come in for Stretch with the club hoping he can provide some run - which invariably he doesn't provide, except at training. But he will link up and be part of about 10 basic stop and kick chains that have no effect on anything, except the timeclock.

Michie and Grimes will again be emergencies because that's how the club likes using them.

The two interesting ones are Angus and Jeffy.

Angus shouldn't play but then again nor should he have been rushed back after just one VFL game the previous two times. But each time his quick return has followed a loss and the selectors hit the panic button because they know he could be anything. So after the Swans, it wouldn't surprise me if they did it again. The alternative is to give him another game in the VFL to really gets his confidence and form back - anything wrong with that?

Jeffy is a bit like Clokey in that he has been sent down to the VFL to get his mojo back and instead fared more poorly, although he apparently was a bit better in Ballarat (five tackles). The problem is that our style of play now requires having a quick player to release over the top and he's a key player in that being blessed with leg speed. Hopefully he got a reminder the past two weeks of why you have to work so hard and if so, his quality demands he re-inclusion - either for Oliver or Kennedy.

So, Out: Stretch, Trengove, Kennedy. In: Harmes, Garlett, Matt Jones (not my choice, but highly likely). I'd go Garland instead of M.Jones and play him on McGovern, thereby allowing Vince to tag Sloane, which is what he would love to do, as Danger will attest.

B: Jetta (Betts) T-Mac (Tex) Frost (Jenkins)

HB: Vince (McGovern) O-Mac (Lynch) Wagner (Douglas)

C: Hunt (Cameron) Viney (Thompson) Matt Jones (Seedsman)

HF: Kent (Atkins) Dawes (Hartigan/Cheney) Vanders (Smith)

F: Garlett (Brown) Hoges (Talia) Watts (Lever)

R: Gawn (Jacobs) Tyson (Sloane) N.Jones (Crouch/Laird)

Int: Oliver, Harmes, Petracca, Bugg

There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
