Boys look tired. Glad we've got the bye.

Not throwing the baby out with the bathwater on that one. Game really suited the Swans bodies. Our boys will rebound when they are fresh.

Whether or not we can make the eight (which is long odds now) can we please give Hulett a game? It's not as if the sky's going to fall in. And when Weideman comes back play him too.

Unlike most in the match day thread, I didn't hate the first three quarters. In a game where strength matters, I felt we were just hanging on in the contest, which is a decent effort given the age and experience gap.

Obviously the last quarter was limp and disappointing.

Easy to blame selecting talls, but there were plenty of littles who gave us nothing, and I think it's no coincidence that it was young, under strength players like Stretch who were the least effective in the conditions. Pretty hard to swallow the idea that Grimes or Michie would have made that much difference.

We stayed with them for quite a while and ere simply outgunned by a bigger more experienced side that has more class.

Last quarter wasn't great but we move on from here.

St kilda game all over again. Just add rain. Sucked into the contest then they clear and bang bang goal!

Why do we all go up in the pack and leave no options on the ground. Very dumb football. Played better against hawthorn.

forget the 8.

the game now is to finish above 12th so that we 'win' the trade with gc17 in terms of 'points value' to bring in oliver / weideman last year instead of having a first round pick this year.

Agreed. On that, Oliver needs a rest. As does Stretch. Bring in ANB and Brayshaw and Hulett for Vandenburg.

If Roos says that we were too tall and he picked the wrong team, i'm gonna loose it.

I reckon after the bye, Goodwin should take over and Roos can be down on the bench.

Ten goal loss in the wet

Double our scoring shots for almost the same inside 50's

Almost no score between the 10 minute mark of third quarter and the 27 minute mark of the last

Hard to see many positives

Certainly a nostalgic reminder to the 2013/14 days when we would continuously kick only 4-5 goals every second week. Although I thought we were a sneaky chance during the week, it was always going to require a huge effort to topple the Swans, with or without rain. Plenty to like with Petracca, Wagner and Hunt and full credit to Watts and Gawn for trying their guts out, but no cigar today.

I've got no issue with the team selected, I do have an issue with the positions of some players.

vandenBerg was far more effective when he went on to the ball, a good position for a natural ball magnet. Sometimes I am surprised that Roos plays Gawn in the ruck and not on a flank.

The biggest positive was Hunt, his speed is such a weapon even in the wet, we just never had enough options forward to allow for quicker kicking.

Thinking Dawes could take a mark today meant we were outcoached before the first bounce.

Surprised at how many are willing to just blow this game off. Seems like a few are happy to write off the games we should be winning if we're showing we're getting somewhere.

We have yet to beat anyone we didn't beat last year. That would be more tangible proof of improvement than a higher average score, or simply beating who we normally do.

Tackling today told the story of where our willingness and mindset is that, and is extremely disappointing.

Sydney 155 tackles, most in a game ever, thats more than 1 per minute.

About 30 of those were on blokes who didn't have the ball.

After 3 years we still haven't come very far

that was horrible

Bang on as usual WYL. We're just as bad as we were in the 4 win 2014 season.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
