Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Around The Grounds - Round 13

In the AFL every club has or almost certainly will have it's divers/floppers/duckers/cheaters and it could soon be seen as "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" type of scenario.

It should be remembered that it took many years for the (then) VFL to act on players throwing the ball out in front of themselves in order to milk a holding the man decision ... the issue was out of control, went on for years and it wasn't just Kevin Bartlett exploiting the rule.   All clubs had their fair share of players doing the same thing as to what KB was doing.

This current contentious ruling is following a similar path - only a zero tolerance stance will fix the problem.  A Band-aid approach simply won't work.

Oh dear Scotty, you really shouldn't start slandering umpires with untrue statements right before your vanilla team of geriatrics starts playing teams in the top 8.

How delicious to see them being found out. They'll struggle to stay in the 8 if this keeps up, much less top 4.

If that occurs, it will remind me of us 2004-2006. Fell off a perch and found out by mid season. I don't think North will miss the finals, but they're going nowhere and have been for a decade at least.

It would be nice to see brisbane upset the weagles.

On nth, Mark Evans was on mmm footy today. Did not sound like a happy man at all. If I was that nth official that told Brad what he thought he heard, if he still has a job, I will be keeping my head down all week and just do there job.

It's inmy early in his career and he has Waite and the P dish to fit in next too. Just like the way he goes about it with no fuss.

Waite not averse to staging either.

How great is this Brad Scott fiasco?
He simply doesn't have the temperament for the modern game. You can only coach what you can control. The rest isn't worth worrying about.
He just comes across like a spoilt brat all the time.

I can't wait for North to fall off the cliff when the game goes passed their older blokes. They are essentially Richmond with better players, but their better players are all 31+.

Have a sneaky feeling this may be the week Leppitsch loses his job. Dead man walking. Don't listen to SF ET, double up on Leppitsch as first coach sacked.

Feel a little sorry for Leppitsch but I'd be surprised if they don't have a caretaker coach ready to go...as early as Monday. There are real problems up there and having Matthews in some quasi - Mr Fix it role is, for mine, a clear indication that the AFL is ready to step in regarding the next coach. Sounds familiar.

Very interesting conversation about the crowd at the Brisbane game. Hudson basically saying that the posted 12,000 attendance doesn't seem correct. He also hinted that the AFL used to doctor their attendance figures. I didn't think the commentators ever commented on these sorts of issues.

In other news, the Eagles are going nowhere. They've been lucky enough to play the Lions twice this year and any other team (except the Druggies) would have smacked them today.

There's no question something has to give up there. It's a shambles. Still, we weren't gifted draft concessions until we were well and truly fcuked and neither should they be given anything. Besides, the AFL is too busy ensuring GWS wins the Premiership from 2017- 2020 to fully focus on them.

If they do try to help Brisbane and the Gold Coast over the next 2-3 years that could really help us. Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond, North and even Hawthorn will need to start rebuilding through the draft and if all the top picks are going north, that will allow us to become very appealing to potential FA's if we continue to improve.

You're right though, something has to give. I think the Lep is a hopeless coach. I'd start by bringing in someone new there and then I'd consider giving them a PP if nothing turns by 2018.

Extra picks isn't going to solve it for them, as most of the good kids they have selected have walked. This highlights a retention problem, so there is a need to have better quality people in charge of player welfare up there. Unless the kids are from QLD or have a strong affiliation with them (ie. Schache), most will probably want to leave.

They have access to their academy kids, maybe they should be allowed to pay only 50% of the draft points as opposed to 80%.

It is not a matter of loading up on draft picks...

Brisbane should get a priority pick. Straight after their first. They are horrible and have been for a long time.

Mitch Robinson has walked into that team and has captained it at times. They have zero depth.

I think SWYL said it best. Wasn't so long ago that they won three in a row. Perhaps they can go through a little fcucking hardship like the rest of us. Character building.

It has been well over a decade since that happened.

Go have a look at their list. http://www.lions.com.au/season/players/senior-players

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
