MFC AA Picks 2016

Who do you think deserve a spot in the AA for 2016.

I think there are 2 standouts from the Dee's - Gawn & Viney

Jonesy deserves a spot after years of toil, but suspect there will not enough spots for the champ.  I will be outraged if Scully gets a spot ahead of Viney or Jones.

my 2 bobs worth.

Gawn ought  to be a shoe in.Viney, a strong chance. Last time we ha 2 in it was when Jamar was putting the ball down  Moloney's throat and Rivers was pretty much dominating the full back line. Vince is the other logical choice but he's up against some tough opposition for one of those spots.

Viney and Jetta should at least be in the squad.

Gawn should be picked, even if as second ruck. Someone released a halfway AA team which left out gawn and included Nic Nat purely due to his mobility. After the weekend, I think arguments about Gawn's mobility have been put to bed

I think people tend to confuse mobility in an AFL context with perceptions of agility.

Weren't our last 3 squad members (in the same year) Jamar, Green and Frawley. with the latter two making the team?

My mistake. It was Frawley and Jamar in 2010 and both made the team. ..................and both were playing in the same match last weekend.

Go figure !!!

Jones probably isn't AA this season. Viney probably gets a look. If Gawn doesn't get AA then I will probably have a John McEnroe dummy spit over it.

Gawn ... Yes.

Viney... doubtful. There would be 15 ahead of him. Sloane  Lewis Wines Dangerfield Selwood Mitchell Harvey Shiel  Bontempelli Martin Steven Hannebery Gaff Neale McCrae

Gawny will be AA ruckman, Goldy has dropped off and looks sore.  Nic Nac and Tippett are both our long term.

Gawn definitely in the squad and if things continue I think he'll be in the team, I reckon Viney and Jetta will get in the squad but not in the final team.

[EDIT] Check that, I think Viney will get into the squad but Jetta won't.

Gawn only.

Yep agree. Just Gawn.

IMO, to make All Australian you pretty much have to play A grade footy every single week. Viney has had a few down days such as the Essendon, St Kilda and Port losses. Even Gawn has had a couple of average ones, but his best games have been scintillating and too hard to be ignored.

I recckon vince has to be at least partvof the conversation. Normally aa players need a couple of season playing top shelf footy. He was terrific in 2014. Even better last season and has been one of our best each game this season

Agreed. At this stage he's the standout. They don't seem to like MFC players, which is probably justified given where we've come from.

Viney is not AA yet

i think he will be but still learning his craft

Why isn't he, look at his numbers and they say that he is.... Viney and Gawn AA

I look at more than stats

Viney is still to Raw to be classed as an AA

Max has again made the Team of the Week  http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-06-21/team-of-the-week-round-13

He must surely be the favourite to be AA ruckman now

Forget All Australian, the beard is still building, 8 tackles and 6 clearances in the pizzing rain at 208cm!?! He is getting better as the year progresses, get your hard earned on the nose for a CHARLIE before his odds shorten

Gawn will definitely make it.

Viney would need a spectacular second-half of the year with at least 4-5 BOGs to get close.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
