For those of you who can handle watching the show itself .... Jack Watts on the Footy Show Panel now!

Jack Viney on the Mangarook Footy Show tonight.

Very composed. Captain worthy performance!  He said:

- Hogan loves playing with Dawes

- His pre season scuffle with TMc was because he thought Tommy was being a bit soft...could have been joking

- On the hunt for a puppy...like Bernie's mountain dog----->images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT2SA_ZeRF3L0oK_rE7wFC       Cute, eh?

- Agreed with the singing of Wagner's praises.

- They accept making a few mistakes while learning and practice of 'our way of playing'.

- Roos pushed defence for 2 years and once we got that sorted we started an attacking game style in this pre-season

That is all I can remember...

As JV said it, I groaned for that reason.

I guess if that is what the club thinks is best and it keeps Jesse happy so be it

It would probably be a cheaper option than buying him a gold mansion and filling it with naked ladies who feed him grapes all day

Shhh... don't tell OD

Superannuation maybe  to fill in for Hoges and the Weed when needed and mentor future forwards.

I'd give him 3 years and a Zimmer frame

There always seems to be an essendon player on the panel. I will just fast forward Zaka's crap he says. But good to see footy shows take an interest now.

Yeah, but a lot less interesting.

Know anyone who might apply? :)

I loved when Jack was asked about Prestia coming to the Dees next year, he started his reply with "well, I'm not in charge of list management obviously or I'd have given myself another contract by now"

OD would have a better chance of getting a 5 year contract BZ!

Understood Rusty.  Wanted to mention JV's first class performance somewhere on DL and this thread title looked a good place.

Just remembered, JV also mentioned JKH...said he had a bad run of luck with injuries but when fit would be in best 22.  Good vote of confidence for JKH.

*Bernese Mountain Dog, as in from Bern (Switzerland).

Have crossed paths with them before. Nice pooches that fair better in the Swiss Alps than in Melb.

I know.

According to Jack, Bernie Vince has one hence my words like 'Bernie's mountain dog' and they showed a pic of Jack with the dog.  I googled Bernese Mountain Dog to get the pic in my post.  But I can see how my post could be read as you have.

Bernese were working dogs on Swiss farms. They have no problems in Melbourne, just don't sit them out in the sun in summer. They are very placid and great with kids.

Great City Bern

I know Dawes isn't great at clunking marks and doesn't kick a lot of goals, but he has great footy smarts and works insanely hard to create space for his team.

Jesse would love one v one rather than three v one

You think? No impressed how they have the Bears in a concrete pit, seems out of character with the Swiss in general.

Ever been there in winter, one cold old place.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
