I reckon we have some improvement in us and we might just surprise a couple of teams in the second half of the year. Having said that, I understand your disappointment. It's a bit like when you think you're going to get a Scalextric set for Christmas and you end up with a Matchbox car. Am I showing my age?

keep the faith BB.

Go DEES!

That's spooky. That's exactly what I got for my 6th Christmas. Matchbox Motorway when I had Specifically asked Santa for Scalextrix !! ...With the Ford GT40's ;)

Got the slots the following year with a Merc and Austin Healey. Lol

Agreed, mate. This year has been a bit funny for me. I go into the game thinking we'll lose or we should win and then no matter what, I usually end up completely frustrated (white-line-fever-Adam).

However, the major difference between other seasons is that within an hour or two of the disappointment, I am quickly reminded of my own expectations for this season of 10-12 wins. I always thought we'd he up and down and even more so when you consider how young the team's we've put out have been.

We're going to crack 10 and we may go past that, but I'm convinced we'll get to a minimum of ten wins.

I expect finals next year, not this year and I think these are perfectly reasonable expectations.

Adam, always perfectly reasonable and rational. Thanks for your opinion and explanation of your opinions.

Our best this year is certainly better than last year - lets see over the next 3 weeks whether our worst has also improved.

Right now we have NO DEFENCE

That is a huge worry. In 12 weeks Roos walks

Ros said his first priority was teaching the team to defend - they seemed to be doing that at times last year,  despite some bad losses, but this year they seem to have slipped backwards probably because of a totally changed plan.

Hmmm with Roosy going we cannot afford to go backwards...

I'm wondering whether everyone expects to beat the teams below us on the ladder and lose to the ones above. It just doesn't work like that.

No it doesn't but it adds to the frustration.

It is easy after several bad years when seeing improved performances, with more talent in the side than in many years to then expect those young players to perform to an unrealistic standard, out of a feeling of desperation for success.

Again the ebbs and flows of a young side can lead to frustration.

With all their new-found talent riches, are Geelong supporters throwing in the towel after losing to Collingwood and Carlton? They've got an experienced side and their losses are worse than ours.

We haven't played Carlton yet...and Bucks Boyz probably won't be Bucks Fizz next meet either .

I'm not presuming any game as a win going forward now whereas I had. There ought to be some but how disappointing to lose games we really shouldn't ? Very

I don't think there's any game 'you really shouldn't'. It's a very even season, except probably for the bottom four. And we lost to one of them.

That was a " shouldn't"

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
