Watching the pre-game on foxfooty David King was interviewing a pre-recorded segment with Jack Watts. They were hitting golf balls at Albert Park Driving Range and King asked him if the great man (Hogan) has been around to his place. Wattsy laughed and said he's around all the time and it's sickening to watch the lovey-dovey carry on with him and i assume a girlfriend. I don't know whether it's Jack's sister or someone else, however it inferred Hogan was smitten and always coming around to Jacks.

I keep telling everyone, Jesse has a girlfriend, she is a local Brighton lass and the connection to Jack is that the was until recently dating her sister. I believe that Jack is no longer dating the sister. No surprise that Jack still has jesse and friend over to visit.

IMO any player in his position who signs for more than three years is crazy.

When you are 26-7 you look for long deals.

Actually I saw this shot too and thought the same thing when it seemed like the Brisbane player asked him a question, I'm not a lip reader so I don't know what he said. But it seemed like a shake of the head and a 'naah mate' - So was the question "are you staying?" or "are you leaving" - Do we have any backofthehead readers?

Do you seriously believe Hogan would tell a random Brisbane player what he is doing next year?

And are people actually that desperate for a tiny sliver of information that they actually believe it, and that the information was acquired by lipreading via the TV?

Trolling.

I'm just backing up CityDee in that after the game there was a shot of a Brisbane player shaking hands with Hogan and he asked him something with Hogan reacting and saying something. Not implying anything but considering its the big issue, i can imagine the player jokingly asking if he was staying and Hogan saying "[censored] off mate" - Obviously nothing
to see here.

Of course he wouldn't tell them, i just thought the way Hogan reacted that the brisbane player asked him for a laugh. I think asking for "backofthehead readers" went over your head as a joke, how can you take that seriously?

Why the [censored] would a Brisbane player give two shits what Hogan is doing with his career?

Is it so hard to believe that a Brisbane player jokingly asked if he was staying knowing it's a big media issue? How many players do you think jokingly asked Danger if he was leaving last year at the end of the game with him shrugging them off with a "p.iss off mate" ? Anyway, thread is being clogged up with [censored]. i regret backing up citydee by saying I saw that shot.

Or maybe he asked him if he's going out after the game, or if he's still with this girlfriend, or if they should catch up with a mutual friend, or if he has a good spag bol recipe?

He could have asked him anything. Literally they could have been chatting about a million topics. I can't even deal with how silly the speculation has become.

Maybe he asked if he wanted to play for brisbane... ?

Is that confirmed? They were talking last night about how important it was to get his signature

Confirmed via ABC radio.

Neale signing can only be good for us imo

Freo look miles off being a contender.

They're ageing and their list profile is all wrong - two more years for Danyle Pearce? Sandi continuing on? Mayne has seen his form drop off a cliff, as has Mundy.

They're still in the box seat to bring Cam McCarthy in on the cheap at the end of this season - they dodged a bullet with GW$ not agreeing to what would be now a trade massively in their favour.

In terms of Hogan, I'm more concerned about meth coke's intentions at the end of 2017.

Not concerned about Jesse going anywhere in the near future. His next contract won't be a massive one in terms of length but will be an extension of 3-5 years.

Agree Ethan, i can't see Hogan coming close to leaving before he becomes a free agent. If he does leave when he's a free agent, would much prefer he picked WCE, the tears from the Freo fans would be epic :)

I don't know about cheap. McCarthy is still signed to GWS till the end of 2017. If Fremantle don't offer a reasonable deal, then I imagine they will have missed the boat. GWS could shop McCarthy to WC for their first round pick - forcing Fremantle to offer up their first rounder. Or if those deals were not on the table, GWS would be well within their rights to hold McCarthy till the end of 2017. I don't see GWS offloading McCarthy for peanuts, he is a quality player, has a lot of talent, and looks to have a big future.

No chance, hasn't played all year, Mark my words the deal will be equal to a third round pick at most. Freo don't have a second round pick this year and there is no chance they're going to part with a top 10 pick unless GWS want to throw in Jonothan Patton or something else into the deal.

Agreed, I read an article that GWS are preparing to accept Freo's 3rd rnd pick (similar to Freo's 2015 2nd rnd given ladder postition) for McCarthy.

This article says Freo unlikely to trade 1st rnd pick (pick 4)  http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/fremantle-dockers-chief-executive-steve-rosich-says-the-club-is-unlikely-to-trade-its-firstround-pick-ahead-of-novembers-afl-draft/news-story/dd24c3e27a78fc0dd58cb39fc2e7af41

It could be a smokescreen but it might also suggest they are giving up on Jesse.  As you say they don't have a 2016, 2nd rnd pick and if they bounce back up the ladder next year trading 2017 picks for Jesse will be nowhere near enough.

Freo might be able to offer Jesse big $$$$ but I don't think they have the quality picks/players (Fyfe & Neale being 'untouchable') to trade for Jesse so like yourself I'm optimistic of Jesse staying.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
