Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Personally I'd rather pick 3 and Apeness and next years first round pick. If Fremantle want Hogan, he won't be cheap. One pick and a player is too cheap.

As has been pointed out by others, Freo can't trade their 2017 1st along with their 2016 1st because they traded their 2015 1st for H.Bennell.  You need to come up with something different.

I got nothing then.

I think trading with Freo is a bit of a problem - they don't have a 2016 2nd and they can't trade both 1sts.  They won't trade Fyfe or Neale and they haven't got much else of interest.  Maybe Walters.

Darling also squibbed it in the GF.

Unfortunately, he's gaining a reputation.

He dropped an easy chest mark at a critical time - not sure it was a squib though.

Could be a 3 way trade.

For example, Hogan to Freo, Pick 3 to GC, O'Meara and Freo pick 39 to MFC.

Not saying that will happen, just an example of how a 3 way trade could work.

Yes but it's not very realistic - GC already have a heap of 1st rounders and O'Meara wants to go to Hawthorn.

As I said, it's just an example.

But just for argument's sake, GC could trade that or any of their other picks, or they may decide it's finally time to follow GWS' example and just load up on draft talent. Also, GC have made it clear they don't care where O'Meara wants to go, they'll trade him to the club with the best offer.

That's what GC said, but O'Meara has to agree.  He's OOC, he holds the whip hand - he's going to Hawthorn.

I'm not sure that's 100% correct. GC could refuse to do the Hawthorn deal if they have better offers and then O'Meara would end up in the draft, and do you think everyone will politely let him slip through to pick 16-18?

Yes I do depending on what pick Hawthorn end up with - look at Luke Ball

Won't happen with O'Meara. Different situation and player and a different club in Essendon who would back themselves to take him and keep him.

Hogans old man is critically ill. Do you all not think this has something to do with his below average last month and at times poor body language????

Nothing is going to happen with his contract while Jesse is going through this terrible experience. He is contracted for another year, has told the club he will stay a Dee, but all negotiations have been put on hold while Jesse concentrates on his family and father.

If this experience makes him change his mind and brings the "go home" factor into play, at least we will be well compensated, most probably with Fyfe.  Fyfe is a free agent next year. Fyfe has indicated he will entertain offers. Freo is much better off getting Hogan for him this year who is worth two first round picks rather than one first round pick (compensation) next year.  There have been discussions between the clubs.

In saying that it is most likely that Hogan has not signed a new contract or asked to be traded by trade week.  If this is the case it does not mean he is leaving at the end of next season.  Simply he is concentrating on bigger issues at this time.

It is highly likely he will re-sign as a Dee.  All good management plans for the unexpected. The club has full expectation that he will stay.

Regardless this is an unlikely scenario, this is a fall back position.  All good management plans for the unexpected. The club has full expectation that he will stay.

How does Nat Fyfe feel about all this? can't imagine him being keen on coming to the MFC

It's off the Hogan thread, but O'Meara would go into the ND with the aim of getting through to Hawthorn Ball-style and Essendon wouldn't use pick 1 on him.

OR he could end up somewhere else Nick Stevens-style...

Disagree. I reckon he would be dead keen to come to the dees. We are closer to a flag than Freo. In fact it is a perfect time to come to the dees - we are on the rise and he could play a part in that rise.

And with our list and solid of field governance (who would have thought i'd ever be able to say that?) we are well set up for long term success. We have a game plan that suits his style. We are stable in terms of coaching etc and as i've said previously i suspect Fyfe would enjoy the approach and style of Goodwin.

I reckon of the Victorian clubs the bullies would be the only other club he would be keen on.

This seems to be news that no-one here has any knowledge of, so how do you think people would be taking that into account?

I have done some googling and the only reference I could find in relation to Jesse's father being ill, was from May this year and just happened to be from the poster Third Man Up on page 105 of the "The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan" thread here on Demonland.  Perhaps you might care to point us to where we could verify that bit of info... it would certainly go a long way towards assuaging the fears of numerous posters in this thread.

The mods have already said they have removed any reference to this until recently as they thought it was a personal matter

It's been mentioned a number of times and rightly deleted.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
