I'm a Hogan critic but that is rubbish that he held us back this year. I know we have beaten 2015 Geelong and 2016 Hawks without him, but we are 2-1 without him in the side. Hardly a big sample size, if we were 6-2 without him then perhaps it'd have some merit.

His attitude and goalkicking need work but make no mistake he is a huge talent and if he fixes those up he'll probably be the best key forward of his generation.

I think it is a valid argument. Despite the small sample size our forward line has not functioned with the same fluidity and efficiency  against quality opposition since our big win over the swans back in the Bailey days. And we have to go back to 2006 for similar offensive elan. Not just the fact that we won.  Those two games stand out like goat glands of the Roos era.

Mate, our forwardline hasn't functioned because we've been [censored]. You are cherry picking 3 games (Remember the Hawks absolutely smashed us in 2015 without Hogan as well), it isn't valid at all.

That was round 7 and early in his career and we only got the Hawthorn monkey off our back that's been there for a decade this year.  Anyway my argument can be measured next season.

Anyone with a pair of eyes and half a brain for football can tell that Jesse is a supremely talented footballer who is already pretty damn good. If Jesse played in those two games we would have won by more. It has been a long time since our midfield gave the kind of service it did in that Hawthorn game.

I think as a club/list we're in a far better position to cope with life without Jesse if that eventuated,  i don't think it will but our wins against Geelong and Hawthorn show that the talent on the list is good enough to cover the loss of probably any player outside Gawn
