Hasn't been the same since he was 'rested'.

Would be interesting to understand whether he really needed it and hasn't got back up to speed, or didn't need it and we broke his momentum.

Change it back.

You could almost say he's lost a little steam..

Maybe it's time to #bringbackthechoo

An intriguing player to watch. Often looks like he's just executed a 'hospital handpass' but they frequently arrive to a teammate in space.

Perhaps it is because he has only done 2/3rds of a pre-season coming off a TAC cup year where he was not even a draft contender for half of it due to his (lack of) conditioning. My professional diagnosis would be he is a bit knackered

is that a real stat PF?  if so can you link the source, Id love to know what a selfless act means

Check the Hun stats page game that's where I got it from I think he was second or third in thIis category. I think it reaaltes to non rewarded ie not actually taking possesion of the ball but acts which assist in us getting the ball!

Didn't mind his game yesterday. 5 clearances, 8 tackles and 10 CP is a great return for a 9 gamer.

Not sure on his Centre bounce attendances but it seemed every time there was a goal kicked he would be coming off the bench straight into the centre. Stats might show we are most potent with him in there

Don't you worry about Clarrie, he's as much of a gun as Petracca.

He's important to us. Small sample size but we've lost every game he didn't play except vs Richmond.

We are 5-4 with CHoo Choo in the side

Yeah, that's a good point.

No worries here I love what he's about

His output has dipped slightly of late, but I think it is more the opposition recognising the impact he can have already.

Opponents are showing him more respect, and that's not a bad thing.
He'll only get better.

I luuurve this :blink::)

Still a high qulaity contributor.

Next year, with a little more size and experience, I would love to see him use his evasive skills to gain himself enough time and space to kick the ball a bit more.  He'll tear games apart from the center square.

Yeah I want to see more kicks, he makes the decision to handball as soon as he gets it even if there is no option. But anyone who can find the ball as much as him is going to be good. Is super clean and finds space where there is none, a fantastic trait. Just needs to add some strings to his bow, kicking being the first.

I think you should look at the bigger picture. It's not that Oliver has dropped in terms of his output. It's that the performance of his surrounding midfielders has been significantly lifted. Oliver starred in the first few opening rounds with him appearing in more centre clearances than as of late. Roos is utilising Dom Tyson and Bernie Vince more in the midfield and stoppages, with Vince going up an extra gear that I didn't think was possible. Therefore, requiring less of Clarry at important stoppages and more than likely has less % of game time than previous rounds.

It would be very interesting to have some stats around this which would help back up my point.

Really ... Maybe because his playing game 10 or there abouts, maybe because he's only 18 & done 1 pre season ...

The expectations of supporters from our 1st yr players is ridiculous.. Club is getting a list that will be around for a decade

Perhaps stop assuming that I'm criticising him before you arc up.

Or do you just enjoy inflaming the discussion for no reason?

Should be getting a game in front of Brayshaw, who in my view is still not quite right.

Manic attack on the ball should be in the team no doubt!

Needs to maintain the manic attack for longer though.

Seems as though they want him to be able to run out games.

Another pre season and he will be a regular. Great hands and vision. Got an edge too.

Needs to use his foot more often, he handballs too much.

Next year after a second pre season he will tear it up.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
