Bench will be Garlett ( who wil start on ground) Pederson, Kennedy AND PETRACCA

By my count that will be 19 on the ground and 3 on the bench. We'll certainly get the jump on them!

All this optimism makes me uneasy.

Don't worry Scythe, we're only 1 bad performance away from order being restored back on these boards

Fence, are you thinking Vince won't play or do you think that they will 'rest' someone else?

Or is the statement that both Jeffy and CP will play made by AlternaFence?

Sheeit run that by me again?!! Nope I reckon Jeffy will pass fitness test. Petracca will play and another might go out!

I reckon if CP5 was going to play they would have announced like they did with Hunt -  showing him being told by Roos. Not counting on it. I also think Garlett must be in doubt.

I hope nobody thinks we are encouraging them to gamble.

We're not encouraging them to gamble..................we're encouraging them   Tibet

M. Jones: "Injured" in the OP, "Soreness" in the email from the club. Difference?

Why raise the potentiality of Petracca playing just JUST to tease?? Nope if you are gunna name him from, then logic suggests that he is right to go! If he Is right to go given Casey Form and him being beyond VFL standard and if he is ready PLAY HIM!

We get it.  You think Petracca should be in.

Ah yeah Nasher! YOU??

Sore ribs from an injury... Bit of both

I think he will play and that by doing it this way its actually a very well considered ploy to bring him in without the pomp and ceremony we've seen in the past.

By naming Garlett and saying Petracca will only play if Garlett doesn't get through training will place far less expectation on him than announcing on the Tuesday that he will play and then wheeling him through half a dozen press conferences and photo opportunities in the week leading up.

Compare how Watts' debut was built up in comparison to Petracca (should he play), it's chalk and cheese and I think a good plan.

I'm probably completely wrong but I've got a feeling that the selectors doubt Garlett will come up.

Also, having Oliver out means it limits the number of very young players in the team on limited minutes.

The fact that they haven't done the "moment you get told you're making your AFL debut" pics/video has me thinking that he won't be played. Which is annoying because I really want to see him and I'm able to go this weekend. But maybe they'll wait for tomorrow before doing that.

I'm a little surprised they've chosen to rest Oliver so soon but they know how he's tracking better than us.

Really pumped for this game, any game v the Tigers gets me pumped. But this is such a massive opportunity to build momentum, they aren't nuff nuffs like the Bombers which was why the players went in with the wrong attitude, and this is a great chance to have 3 good games in a row.

I'm with you on this you imbecile picket - Petracca will play.

Was it Thursday or Friday last week that the club uploaded the video of Hunt ringing his mum??

No such video of Petracca yet.

His mum didn't answer.

The Richmond supporters over at PRE have totally thrown in the towel.  Gods, if we Essendon this...

Don't even think about it Gnash --  I may well top myself if that happened!

Deledio coming back with no match fitness. It was a disaster when they did that last year (he injured himself again).

Rather amusing to see them desperately repeating old mistakes. Ah, Richmond.

No one wants to see anyone injured but if he (Lids) gets injured again due to being underdone and the Tigers lose I would sack Hardwick on the spot. It's season over so no point in keeping him on. Surely they had a finals clause in his extension, if not the board should be moved on to.

This is it, I've read numerous times over the past two weeks from various posters that "the Essendon game was the turning point" but I can't help think we've had those games before.

Ah Uncle Bitters!! Nice of you to join the discussion! I trust that the term 'Imbecile" is your term of endearment to myself?

And Nasher, I agree, we dont want to Caveat Emptor, Essendope this one!

I don't want to think of the meltdown that Demonland would suffer under that  er "Unlikely" Event!

What if petracca has said to the coaches when it's my time to debut I don't want you to make a big deal out of it just put me on the bloody field, I won't make a fool of you

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
