POST GAME DISCUSSION

Recommended Posts

Thought it was a terrific team performance today, but there were some really important individual efforts as well. Viney and Gawn in the middle (they are becoming A grade) and Watts up forward. Bugg's disposal is messy and I'd say even poor, but his attack on the footy is usually first class.

It's also the best I've seen our zonal defence work. We still made some mistakes back there, so definitely some stuff to work on, but we had a couple of young blokes back there. Hunt's debut was exciting and Wagner built on his solid first week to play an excellent game today.

It was also interesting to see Kent spend some more time in the midfield this week. He still makes some silly mistakes, but if he continues to build, I'll happily ingest that humble pie come the end of the year.

Competition for spots is certainly heating up. Let's get that TV deal signed and a few more of these performances and Jesse will be signing on the dotted line.

Oh and thought Frost played his best game for the club. Not always great to look at, but his pace was really important today. Our press with Kennedy, Kent, Frost, Hogan and even Pedersen was fantastic. We also got our zones right all day. Collingwood didn't work hard enough and they are clearly down on confidence now, but they continually looked up and had no one to kick to when they had ball in hand. That's a credit to our organisation - Watts and Hogan also both showed terrific leadership at points, directing traffic from half back and ensuring their team mates were in the right positions.

I want to see us bury Richmond next week, but surely we've now dispelled those posters who say we haven't improved. Essendon was disgusting, but our last two weeks have been terrific. We've been far more consistent within games and that is a clear improvement on previous years.

Plenty to like about today.

Loved the 4 goals from Watts, and that was the standout.  He kicked 3 crucial goals when the game was up for grabs which was brilliant.

Bit of love for Viney? He has been A grade this year.

I think some need to man up and give Paul Roos an apology. After the Essendon game many wanted him gone and replaced with Goodwin.

At the end of the day Roosy is still the top dog. Forget about Goodwin for now. We know what we'll get from him in the future.

Time to kill off any ounce of confidence the tigers may have next week.

The only part of today that i am fairly dissapointed was our inability to really put them to the sword, we should have won today by ten goals plus, as we push up the ladder we need the % boosts especially with the comp so close.

Hyperbole. You were in the box were you?

Mooney you are a serial over reactor, Emerald may have meant the different styles in play were evident (OR NOT). We won and different approaches/ styles will be required from time to time. Go listen to Gawny speak about the challenge of playing different styles of ruckmen. I apologies, I forgot you will over react to what I said and find a way to be obnoxious about my comments.

We beat the Filth in a game they have pumped themselves up for.... and we beat them convincingly.

Now read tomorrows papers and see how Colonwood are "in crisis", and MFC barely rate a mention.

I'm very glad we won.

Would hate to have seen you 'tarding it up on here again after another loss ;)

Can't believe the pin heads in the press making Collingwood favorites, with comments like Melbourne are really a team they should beat. Have they really watched them play the past few weeks?

2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. The move of “Disco” to a key forward post looks like bearing fruit. Turner has good hands, moves well and appears to be learning the forward craft well. Will be an interesting watch in 2025. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention.
