Oscar ahead of Dunn. Called it a few days ago after Roosy's comments, but still the first major curveball of the season

Dunn was injured, maybe he hasn't quite recovered.

no dunn what a joke the most loyal bloke at this crap clib

Dunn not included and Brayshaw not yet ready the two biggest surprises. Agree that O Mac is a concern, but given Dunn's inconsistency and being dropped from the leadership group, not all that surprising. Perhaps if Cameron hadn't been suspended, things might have been different.

so we select teams on loyalty? Bit underdone and they are seriously lacking in tall fwds at present

Just a hunch. Couldn't grab a tackle in the Saints game and hasn't used his right hand at training since.

Omac ahead of Dunn is strange, so I'm tipping a late change.

Doubt he'd be named as an emergency if that's the case. Could be wrong though.

It makes no sense to me that we would make a late change for the first game of the season.  If they won't pick Brayshaw, who they obviously feel needs another week at Casey, then they won't pick someone under an injury cloud.  Salem is right to go and O Mac must have impressed them to get the gig down back alongside his brother.

You left out the ruck division.

The other notable absentee is Lumumba.  Another one they feel needs at least another week at Casey if Roos' comments, about picking the fittest side they can, is anything to go by.

Cheap.

I meant that he must be right to go, otherwise they wouldn't pick him for Round 1 when they've had a few weeks to get him right.

Plus Roos talked about the fact that guys like Dunn, Brayshaw and Lumumba missed out because they wanted to go with the fittest side possible.  If Salem wasn't fit then he would have missed.

I hope I'm not proven wrong though as he is crucial for us off half back.

How can Gus play VFL and do very well but still be left out?

Maybe pulled up a little sore?

My hunches are rarely right. And I hope Salem is good to go.

Would still rather a 50% Dunn than Oscar.

People were saying he played and used it well, but he only had it 16 times. I'd like to see him get it a bit more, so it doesn't surprise me so much that they're giving him another week

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
