Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Its hard to care what Robbo thinks.

Hard is far too soft - impossible is a far better term.

He would probably be more qualified to rank the top 50 beers (or pubs) than the top 50 players.

Langdon's list is strange.

He had Armitage at 16 and Robbo didn't even have him in his top 50. I think Armitage should be around the 30 mark, FWIW.

I assume you've just made a point.  I have no idea what it is.

And I haven't seen the list or read the article.

You assumed incorrectly. I was not making a point. It was in fact, to be taken at face value as a simple question, and I would have thought it didn't require explaining.

Sometimes you look for things that aren't there prodee.

You haven't read the article. Fine. Maybe someone who has will answer the question.

Having so few Dees in the top 50 (whatever list/ranking you look at) is surely the biggest weakness now.  But as said, these are based on last year and assumptions.

I'd hope next year Jones will be top 20, meaning this year he really is damaging, with the support he now has in the middle.   Then have another 4-5 players in there: Vince, Viney, Hogan, Gawn, ?

If Geel have the highest rank midfield- then I can't wait to see Dees vs Geel this year: Vince V Danger - Viney V Selwood - Gawn V Stanley - Jones smashing whoever else.

Robbo is living a year in the past, his list is rubbish, but the lack of Dees is hardly surprising and needs to change

I didn't think it could be a genuine question, because of course ineligible players wouldn't be ranked.  It's for the 2016 season.

We are talking about a list compiled by Robbo. I wouldn't have been surprised if he had Hurley and Heppell in his top 10, arguing that they might have a successful appeal against their ban.

Haven't read it myself, and wont bother now.

Probably the only way Hogan can be justified a spot at this stage too...

Actually, I was wrong when I said that.

On SEN yesterday afternoon he said it's how he ranks players "now" and not what he expects at the end of 2016.  I stand to be corrected, but I believe this is at odds with Sheahan's previous top 50s.

I've looked at the Top 50 every year out of curiosity.  Based on the order some years I have to ask whether the rankings are based upon a career's reputation, the past year's stats, or what they think the player's acievements and impact will be in the upcoming season.

*I haven't perused this year's Top 50

So was the All Australian side. Remember when Yze couldn't get in the side and the commentary was that he had to do it (the high performance level) for a number of years to be recoginised? Including Franklin in the top 10 is a joke.

And the Rising Star is now based on the best 1st year performance. This is totally different to its original incarnation when it was the player most likely to become a star. It is now almost impossible to win the award if you are nominated after round 9. It remains a joke IMO.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
