Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Kent and the Kings

Absolutely love Roos' comments about Kent:

Quote

Kenty has been very, very good. The game demands so much and he’s not a natural aerobic runner, but he’s worked really hard on that area. Some of his pre-Christmas running sessions have been fantastic. He’s probably really surprised his teammates and coaches. Hopefully he has an injury-free run-up to the season, because I think he’s going to have a good 2016.

I can't wait to see what this guy can do if he can stay injury free.

Reading into the progress of players regarding their fitness doesn't mean much.Game time is the best way to improve player fitness. Why does the club need to make any comment on players, the opposition teams will also be privy to the same info as us!!!!

You're right. What's the point in even doing a preseason?  The AFL doesn't award points to teams that have the fastest 3km time trials or best skin folds. Might as well just have the players hit the pub from October-March rather than doing all of this pointless fitness stuff.

I am only interested in the team winning matches in particular especially the ones we should have one.I know it takes time to properly re build a club. I have seen the Demons beat the reigning premiers and runners up in practice matches only to achieve the wood spoon. It is great to invest and be interested in what the club does during the pre-season. If you look at Oliver you would probaby assume that he is lazy, so looks can be deceiving.Comments on players progress may also be distorted, a form of motivation.I didn't say preseason training was a waste of time. Some of you people out there may not remember a demon player in ALAN JAKOVICH , didn't put a great effort into training and was constantly a smoker. ALAN was a natural freak.

My kind of team.  22 natural freaks with half a dozen unnatural freaks for depth.

Big generation difference comparing those Jakovich days to now where full time footballers and professionalism has gone through the roof mate.

Not sure what you're trying to say here ENYAW. I enjoy your posts but I am not sure of the relevance of drafting freaks and pre season training

As DD said above footy has changed a lot since Jacko was running around

Sure, he was a natural freak of the game, but how many games did he actually play? It could be suggested that had he trained well and given up the durries, he would have easily doubled his games played count, and god only knows how many goals.

I think by mentioning Jako, you've actually hurt your argument.

And I know that even the fittest of fit footballers get injuries but I am not convinced that his career was not curtailed by his preparation.

Always love your work ENYAW. I've encountered a few of those "natural freaks" over the years. They are usually good blokes err girls.  They are usually good girls err blokes.

Anyway met a few in Bangkok not Dees supporters unfortunately. Could be an untapped market.

Garlett is the most disappointing. He is a veteran. He came back last year similar iirc.

I spoke to Jeff about this, he had a finger injury and couldn't get as much boxing in as he usually does during the break, so his overall fitness dropped a bit, nothing more than that

Not exactly back, thought I would add a bit of context, from what I have observed at the training I have attended, most of what is written in the reports on the club website is pretty accurate, stand out for me by a mile this year is Kent

May post a couple things going forward, but no training reports

Finger injury doesn't stop running, cycling, swimming etc, yes, boxing but ffs, he is a veteran, he should be coming back in tip top shape every year.

and if this finger excuse was considered to be a satisfactory one, Roosy wouldn't have made mention of it and cast him in a bad light

I see this place hasn't changed, Roos made mention of the finger injury, underdone being the boxing side of Garlett's fitness, he was participating in the first week or two of running without an issue, he is built like a stick so boxing is an important part of his fitness regime, I asked

Neither have you.

Welcome back, champ.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
