Then it is like for like. Michie's recent form has been a little above VFL level, and Melksham's past couple years a little below AFL standard, I would have them on par. Would prefer to give a young lad a crack at it, bit more upside. If White is training well, then he seems the logical choice.

Melksham is a better player than Michie.

Window of opportunity for Viv.

We have selected a few under 21's in draft.

Lifts his running and fitness. He is a better chance than others. Roos has given him the challenge

Bigger AFL body 5+ pre-seasons.

I am thinking of the Jetta situation......demotion seems to have been the making of Nev.  Hope it works for Viv too.

People are kidding themselves if they think Viv Michie is the answer to our problems.

Aside from his lack of leg speed and fitness, he has no defensive side to his game at all.

He'd be a poor replacement for Melksham, and I don't rate Jake at all either.

I'd rather see both White and Wagner tried first.

It's rare to see you rate anyone or anything within the club these days, so you're comment doesn't mean much.

And nobody is saying Michie will be the answer to our problems, he is just the most likely player to be promoted off the rookie list to replace Melksham.

no it doesn't

for 2016 any club can nominate one rookie at the start of the season to be elevated. after that it requires a lti

Isn't that what I said.

Michie will be the nominated rookie!

Then any others will have to be because of an LTI

Also the WADA code said that a player to replace a "cheat" must first be taken from the Rookie list.

Who would you prefer in your side.

Melksham is not n your side so forget that comparison.

Also this preseason is the first he has not carried injuries. He has also been injured in every season he has played.

If he gets through a preseason that should set himself for a great year.

not sure if that was what you said initially

anyway to summarise, mfc can elevate TWO rookies at start of season (if they want)

one to replace melksham under special afl ruling re cas decision

one according to new 2016 rookie rules which apply to all clubs allowing one elevation at start of season

(this is regardless of lti elevations)

Dont we also have Joel Smith as a Rookie (B) who can be elevated at anytime.

i believe there is only one set of rules for all rookies for elevation. i.e. no special elevation rules for category b rookies

rookie categories only define how they may be recruited

p.s. separate from the special melksham case i think clubs can elevate up to 2 rookies at start of year if they have no veterans on their main list

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
