NATIONAL DRAFT PICKS 45 & 49

Featured Replies

I still like Tommy Glen.

Gach Nuyon might be a good bet too, maybe for a rookie.

I'm starting to think that Dunkley might find his way down to our pick and Greg Clark as well. Both could go in the 5 before ours but if not, they are 2 guys who were top 20 talents at the start of the year and have just had bad luck / bad form this year. Dunkley 189 and Clark 194, both mids and both have tanks. Clark's very impressive. Fits the Roos midfield build. Not what we 'need' as they dont have pace, but if they are there we would be silly not to take them.

Same, I really like Glen. He is a very good decision maker and executes well. Glen and Skinner would be my roughies.

Reminds me of Birchall.

Agile tall, will put on size, lovely long kicks out of the backline hitting running players in stride.

Clark is a good kid and is smooth to watch, I just have some doubts about his absolute desire to run through brick walls, because he is going to need to develop that to make the best of the tools he has at his disposal.

The Herald Sun has reported that we are into Alex Morgan with our pick 46.

Was a gun at TAC level in 2013 then lost his love for the game. Seeing his mates at AFL clubs has reignited his passion.

Selling points:

  • 21 year old, big bodied rebounding defender
  • Fastest 20m sprint time (2.88 seconds)
  • Second in the relative vertical jump (71cm)
  • Champion Data rated Morgan’s Vic Metro games elite for contested possessions, intercept possessions and SuperCoach points

Looks like a good pickup if he slips to 46?

As an aside, not as uncommon as it might seem around this age, and not just in footy.

Underscores just how much effort is needed, above/beyond ability.

He's a 19yo, not 21.

Yeah, 19. Thanks for picking that up. I misread one of the quotes about him.

“He’s like a 21-year-old in a maturity sense, but like a 17-year-old in a footy sense because he missed last year and a chunk of this year.”

The new order has us picks 45 and 49 ?

I cannot understand why this has happened?

Can anyone explain

As far as I can tell, the Lions had ND42 but now they do not. The AFL may have made a mistake with a trade along the way...

I know why - they only have 5 available spots on their list! 395 points lost because they didn't realise they couldn't go into the draft with more picks than open spots in their list. GWS has lost ND64 (101 Points) and Sydney has lost what would have been ND66~ and ND69~ (139 points).

So the final order asks how many spots are on your list and then allows you to have as many picks at the start that you have spots on your list.

Didn't the explanation of the new bidding system specifically say that you COULD have more picks than spots because you were going to spend them on your point-gathering?

I don't think this is correct at all.

No idea why the change though.

Maybe an adjustment for teams that aren't able to bid and therefore utilise more picks than spare list spots?

Wait till draft night and multiple picks disappear, lifting pick 46 now 45 much higher.

strangely Im somewhat more intrigues with these picks than the first two :)

I am pretty sure that is what has happened. I will have another look later.

Hunt has had injuries in the past,he is quick and a mid next year could be his year.Mason Redman is a 187 cm mid not a bad player.

Pick 46 could drop as low as 34

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
