Plough wallace who i actually enjoy listening to has been very big wraps for our club ever since he made Barratt look silly on the Dom Tyson trade.

Most of his stuff is actually well worth listening too.

Yeah he's pretty shrewd he killed it at the Tigers.

Yeah he's pretty shrewd he killed it at the Tigers.

He is and he was a very good coach, things didn't work at the Tiges for a lot of reasons and whilst the coach bares the blame it's often more complicated than that.

I dont care what he did at the tiges. I enjoy listening to him talk alot of sense compared to the NQR on here and Barrett aswell.

I don't mind what Terry says, it's just the voice he says it in.

Poor old Terry doesn't have a voice for media, yet his counter-part may have a smooth voice (though full of disdain with anything mfc related) but not a brain for the footy landscape. They make a brilliant pairing

I think our picks 46 and 50 will come forward quite a few slots by the time the Swans, Giants and Lions burn picks for Academy players - yes 5 new picks get inserted but more picks get consumed - all those picks between 33 and 44 will get swallowed up except the Freo pick - that's 11 picks - we might effectively sneak back into the end of the 2nd round

PS. Gotta pray GCS takes Didymus Blanket !!!

I honestly can't see the benefit in a bunch of these pick swaps with Sydney, Bulldogs, Fremantle etc. Are they just bored and doing it for kicks?

and Talia and 4th round for an earlier fourth round to Sydney?! Huge steal to Sydney there. Watch them make him into a defensive rock.

Sydney got a bonus there. Bulldogs game plan.

Thought we might have tried to upgrade 46 and 50 for 34 from GWS. They dont need that pick if 1) they are trying to reduce list size and 2) using points for 2 academy players?

This is the official AFL indicative draft order after close of trades today: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-10-22/indicative-draft-order-your-clubs-provisional-picks-as-trade-period-unfolds?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=RSS+feed%3A+AFL+Latest+News

Something looks horribly wrong for Sydney! The picks they have are: 33, 36, 37, 44, 54, 69, 72, worth 2198 draft points.

Maybe the AFL table is wrong but it does reflect the listed trades made by Sydney.

If Callum Mills is selected at 1, 2, or 3 Sydney do not have enough points.

If you can see an error in the above let me know.

I can't see Callum Mills getting pass pick 3 as we have it.

I have hesitated posting this in case we all get too excited so showing the state of play as it looks atmo.

I will keep an eye on the official draft order and see if there are any changes for Sydney.

Watch this space!

Did I read somewhere that Sydney get a discount?

Good pick-up!!! Thanks.

The discount will cover the difference.

Ignore my prior post, folks.

In fact I will delete it.

I will give you a run through - if we go for Mills at ND3 the Swans have to meet 2234 minus 25%: 1675.5.

That will consume picks 33, 36, 37, and move 44 back to 53. If they need to fill out their list - they will do it at the end of the draft.

We will have ND4 suddenly, as Sydney is installed into ND3 to take Mills.

No brainer from Sydney to take him with those picks. From there they will have around 322 points for any other Academy players and, this is an important point, any club can take a deficit into the next draft.

"The Magpies picked up the best player not named Dangerfield while also adding one of Melbourne's five best players ".

My sides hurt.

It would be difficult to write a worse trade appraisal than that. Almost across the board.

lol. Jai Bednall you're not doing yourself any favours.

Guessing he's a Pies supporter. Essendon being in the winners also made me laugh.

The bombers since Gumbleton at 2 havnt had very high picks that was a long time ago.

There'll be 50+ deals done this period, or close to it.

For the record Nudge 37. A bit of movement this trade period.

Wallace tended to believe his own hype when he became the Tigers coach.
At the Bulldogs, he was a bloody good coach. He took teams that quite frankly had little genuine class (besides Chris Grant and maybe Scotty West). Most of the blokes he had got there via pure grunt and a commitment to the game plan.
When he got to Richmond, he thought he was some kind of football genius and proceeded to pay the price. His spray after the loss to Port and his slagging off of Danny Frawley showed where his head was at at the time.
I think after the Richmond experience, he got the reality check he needed. His road back to respectability began when he apologized to David Smorgon (which he should have done to start with).

Since that time, I don't find his comments overly objectionable.

His playing career alone might have been enough to set him up as a media personality and he did a great job at the Dogs. Funny how he gets the blame for things going sour when it probably should've been on both parties.

Richmond and he went down together. They did start the same process of multiple picks under 20 they just took 4 guys who couldn't play. Just like Melbourne would later do to Bailey.

Pick 1 - Deledio

Pick 4 - Tambling

Pick 12 - Danny Meyer

Pick 16 - Adam Pattison

Pick 20 - Dean Polo

Their next draft was even worse.

Besides Deledio the rest were plonkers.

The thing that annoys me about Wallace is that he's gone for the list management pathway and working with croc media where the strength of his coaching was probably tactical analysis.

But he does have a pretty solid handle on the draft, players across the league, list management priorities and he's even worked out the academy stuff way ahead of most.

Great effort.

Couldn't agree more.

Is it possible to work out:

(a) The gains & losses for each club?

(b) Which picks have gone from the 2016 draft? :)

To be fair, Wallace probably spends more time watching kids come through now than he did when he was coaching. He did have recruiters to do that when he was at Richmond.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
