No Priority Pick for Carlton or Brisbane

Hopefully Leuie doesn't draw a high compo selection if/when he goes. I would've thought beginning of second round might his value at best. Pick 20.

He is 27 and I doubt he will get anything more than a 3 year deal. I'd say it will be 2nd round pick. Frawley was younger and got a longer contract which is why he got a 1st rounder.

They should just get rid of the PP. A team would basically have to be on it's last breath and probably too far gone to qualify for one, our denial is proof of that. Now we are on a better path NOW but jeez when we made our submission with Roos coming in as coach there had been few worse sides over the years. If they had given us some kind of carrot, an extra pick at the end of the first or second round they could've had something to go on.

Oh well moving on. Strange to see our first pick being anything above 4, happy to see it continue to climb!

They were never going to get a PP.

I don't know why so many here were fuming at the prospect. They had no chance.

Depends on what he gets paid at a new club.

And he certainly would be a huge risk for any club to invest some serious coin on

I think I read somewhere on big footy that he'd need to be paid near to 700k to ensure band 1 compo.

Leunberger will be lucky to pull in 500k. He can consider himself very lucky if any club is silly enough to offer that type of money to an injury riddled - and largely unproven - ruckman.

Had Kruezer gone , Carlton would have probably got a compo pick straight after 1st pick

Given he's failed more medicals than there are stars in the sky, Carlton have certainly come out the losers in that sliding doors scenario.

The Lions are going to be awful over the next few years, but they definitely didn't deserve a PP this year. After 2 or 3 more years of garbage, then give them one.

nope they need to be bad for 5 seasons i think they are at their lowest point now they would need to have less then 2 wins in a season for two years in a row, then maybe they can have one, if we could not get one after a 4 wins, then 2 wins then 4 wins in three seasons and then not get one, so two wins in a season did not deserve one then a team would need to win 1 game in a season before getting one, the AFL have set the bar very low too low.

Agreed

And by then it would risk pushing our first round pick from 18 to 19 :-))). (Dreams on.....)

Really? They didn't get it? Bummer, i was hoping they would.

Can u imagine if Carlton got a pp there would be serious question about Mic fitzpatrick, former Carlton great looking after his former club.

Like there isn't already? Did you see Carlton's fixture this year?

It's amazing how Yeo improved this year he's part of the reason the a eagles are playing I the GF he's a great player who I never heard of to this year.

yep, & I wonder if the clubs ganged up on them, & didn't take 'k'reuzer off their hands, for similar reasoning ?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
