Settle down fellas. The bloke tweeted that we are apparently one of 4 clubs interested. Means nothing at this stage. Everyone is reacting as if a giant sinkhole has opened up and swallowed the club whole.

Posted

Id happily take him for a 3rd rounder

Dont really get why theres so much hate for him here, hes had a couple of seasons where hes averaged better than 21 touches and in one of those seasons he booted 20 goals. He has a career average of 19 disposals

I know stats arent everything but on numbers alone he'd have been our 2nd best player behind Jonesy in those seasons

I love it how everytime a player is remotly linked to us you have to go and look up their stats before you make an opinion.

You really dont watch any games other than the one's featuring the demons do you?

If you had watched the games Bastinac has played you would realise how stupid you sound comparing him to Jones.

Seems to me that as the Kangas have become a more consistent & reliable team who now wins the games they should win, it is Ryan Bastinac that has become one of the casualties at selection. FCS, even Nahas still gets a game ahead of him. Not for me.

Speaking of sounding stupid . you just did a better job than I ever could.

Show me where I compared him to Jones, and whilst doing so try not to make more of an idiot of yourself than you already have.

Bastinac would be a complete waste.

He's a depth mid. We have plenty. Even if we don't get Ben Kennedy and/or Bugg I fail to see what the point of getting him is or how he improves us.

Time to risk drafting some players with skills. That's what we need to improve.

Nothing against Bastinac but I fail to see how he makes us better. Sure someone is likely to chime in stating they he is better than Terls and Matt Jones but reality is Bastinac doesn't crack our best 22 and we need to be trading for players who will make us better.

Posted in the Jeremy Howe thread but relevant here too.

Howe to NM, Bastinac to Brisbane, Aish to us and we top Brisbane up with a draft pick?

Yes need to make a play for Aish. Lions may deal with us but give Pies the bird

Why havent the dees tried harder to get Aish. Although we havent seen it yet, he is a speedy outsider we could do with.

Nick Bowen just tweeted that Melbourne and Brisbane are among 4 clubs who are into Bastinac.

here we go. $cully's robin.

Bastinac, OK. whats he been doing of late. Has his form been good. he was a 2nd Rnd pick from the draft iirc?

Shouldn't it be North topping Brisbane up in that trade scenario?

They're making out like bandits otherwise.

I don't think so IMO.

They are swapping Howe for Bastinac, no great gain really.

We are losing Howe for Aish, I think we'd be getting the better of that deal by a fair distance.

So we trade Howe and a draft pick for a soft outside mid that got dropped from the 17th placed team twice this year?

Kangaroo fans will say he is an inside mid with quick hands but ever since Dal Santo has come in his career has stalled. In 2012 in one game he had 44 disposals and 2 goals that game. Can't remember the last time a melbourne player had those kind of numbers. Edited by dazzledavey36

I don't think it should be a high pick, just something to get it done.

I get he was dropped but as an outside mid, your possessions can often often rely on inside midfielders getting the ball out to you. I understand that others see it differently, I just think we could use his run out of defence more than we can use a loose defender that can sometimes mark an opposition inside 50.

Brisvegas getting royally shafted in that one.

Happily take Aish in that scenario

I'm not against trading Howe, but i'd rather trade him to either strengthen our draft position or to help secure two players we're targeting like Bugg & Melksham.

I'm not overly fussed about Aish myself.

Excellent runner, ordinary user.

Also, I was just looking at his stats, and he didn't get any Brownlow votes for his 44 possession, 2 goal game. Probably a bit stiff!

yep, the last time I remember hearing of him would have been around 2013?

& Delsanto,,,,, or Scott the coach? the catalyst of his going quiet?

its a pass from me... anyone who can't play the contested game, can't really play. sort of the '100's & 1000's' for the top of the cake, after the candles go in.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
