Lets accept Watts was a bust, however he is going to be decent as a depth player.

If not traded out , his days of automatic selection in the 22 are over. I think the supporter base is finally ready for that too

For next year then out of the game.

"Infatuation"? I'm not defending him. Someone said "Is he best 22?" to which I pointed out he finished in the top 18 in the Bluey so clearly logic says he is.

That's not logical. It doesn't account for injuries to players this season or different positional requirements for fielding a "best 22".

Just use logic, not emotion.

Actually, for a player who played most games 18th is a terrible result.

Ok, I'll explain it again... Didn't say it was a good result, or Watts should be proud or has turned the corner blah blah... All I did was use actual logic to answer the question about him being in our best 22 this year. The numbers are right there and he clearly was. With improvement in our list and better luck with injuries he will not be in our best 22 without improvement next year.

How is this for logic...

Dropped from the best 22 for the final round despite the fact that we had a number of players who would normally be walk up starts out injured.

18th in the Bluey, played 20 games.

Take your useless emotion out of it and realize what is actually being said.

I'm not saying we should be happy he was best 22 this year, but he clearly was.

But when you add the weekly injury list to that equation your logic is very flimsy Stuie..

Emotion aint got nothing to do with it little one...

It's still logic. Sure, maybe (probably) without those injuries he wouldn't have been best 22, but those injuries are a fact. Let's deal in facts.

2015 was probably his best season, as viewed by many....but unfortunately he is sliding out of the best 22...

You didn't use logic though. Saying that Watts is best 22 because he finished 18th in the BnF this year is not a logical conclusion. You haven't accounted for injured players being kept off the field who make a strong case for best 22 - Kent, Frost, Petracca, Trengove etc. It's a false argument, unless you're changing the customary definition of what best 22 means, i.e. the strongest fielded side with a healthy list.

If he's best 22, it's certainly not clear cut. He's on the very fringes and will get pushed out very quickly if he can't make sizeable improvements next season.

I am.

18th in the B&F for Jack Watts is a deplorable result considering the state our list is in & i do not consider him Best 22 with a season score under 100

He is still on our list because nobody was interested

This has all been pointed out to spewie already of course

Missed at least 6 weeks through injury: Viney, Jetta, Tyson, Vandenberg, Dawes, Salem, Pedersen, Kent, Frost, Petracca and Trengove

Finishing 18th in this group after playing 20 games is not an achievement

Yes this gives the true picture.

"Jack Watts finished 18th in the B&F thus he is in the best 22" is the Political answer skewed to suit, given to a hungry media pack at a door stop...

I actually feel sorry for ol Jack in a fashion

I just don't know if he's actually cut out to realise what he can be.

Hes a lil bit fish out of water at times.....and I think he knows it !

So do i, Jack is a really nice kid but after 7 seasons i also don't think he can remodel his game..

He was one of the players who met with Roosy originally...He wanted the change.

I've seen an improvement in JW this year likely that's a Brendan McCartney influence. I'd like to see him finish his contract out next year and the pressure will be on him just as much as BMcC to get this young team going.

The media should be ashamed of how JW has been treated like you said he's a KID, let's see if the 7 million $$ boy at the dog cops the same treatment next season

still think watts will prove all of his distractors wrong as posted before should play chb and run with the ball like hardeman did who started his career on the wing

yep, 5 votes avg per game wouldn't make top 22, despite stuie's impeccable logic and plain facts

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
