Norm Smith's Curse 2,602 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Highly rated draftee that has been cruelled by injury. Yet to resign with the pies. Any love?
What 18,810 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Remember we were all debating whether the Dees should take Freeman or Salem? Good times
Hulkamania Brother 52 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Remember we were all debating whether the Dee should take Freeman or Salem? Good times Same, also remember being bummed we didnt get him lol.
Mach5 4,768 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Had super breakaway pace, but without that is a limited player, and as such, with dodgy hammies, not worth a punt.
dee-luded 2,959 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Highly rated draftee that has been cruelled by injury. Yet to resign with the pies. Any love? yes some love, on his pre draft reputation. & speeeeed.. ??
KingDingAling 3,758 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Yeah, a lot of love here. I liked Salem ahead of him in the draft. But I'd offer Collingwood our second rounder pick for Freeman. He does have weaknesses, but so did Viney at this time last year. If we can fix VIney up - which we have - then I'd like to see what we could do with Freeman.
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Personal opinion he's a bit soft and doesnt like the hard stuff
dee-luded 2,959 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Personal opinion he's a bit soft and doesnt like the hard stuff if true, we don't want anymore who won't contest hard.
Adzman 2,154 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Was highly rated, but has really struggled with injury and playing time. I wonder if the pies still rate him. If not he might be cheap and worth a spot.
Return to Glory 8,528 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 He's Collingwood's Lucas Cook. No.
Biffen 12,949 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 He's Collingwood's Lucas Cook. No. You might be right. But i often think of you as Latvia's Malcolm Douglas. So my opinion is hardly relevant.
Biffen 12,949 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Would take him over Melksham! Keep your sexual preferences to yourself Angry.

RalphiusMaximus 6,112 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 We don't need any more Collingwood cast offs. Agree with this. Collingwood are great at selling fool's gold. That being said this kid could come good with some careful management. I wouldn't pay a lot for him, but he's be worth a shot. Maybe try to rookie him somehow?
SaberFang 7,151 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 No, no, no, no. We dodged this bullet when we took Salem (and Collingwood were reportedly [censored]).
Rod Grinter Riot Squad 5,681 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Personal opinion he's a bit soft and doesnt like the hard stuff As opposed to being a bit soft and loving the hard stuff?
Ted Lasso 19,586 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 As opposed to being a bit soft and loving the hard stuff? the difference between the two imo would be soft and hating hard stuff = cale Morton soft and loving hard stuff = jack rewoldt, can win contested ball, still a sook.
the fork 357 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 Highly rated draftee that has been cruelled by injury. Yet to resign with the pies. Any love? I think the mere suggestion that a player like Freeman is a topic for discussion on a trade board is indicative of how impatient we are as a group of supporters with the development of young talent. Seriously this guy has had injuries and is being made to earn his spot, it's a simple as that. We have to get over the idea that just because a high draft pick isn't being played doesn't mean he's ripe to be moved on. Think: Toumpas, Hunt, etc.

It comes back to that 'competitiveness' thing - the willingness to improve yourself as a footballer - which keeps getting talked about among the younger players at the club. It'll become, hopefully, the nexus between these players in a successful Melbourne team for the years ahead. If Freeman ain't got it, he ain't got it. We can try but he's gotta help himself first. As for an offer, well, he's gotta nominate us first, otherwise I reckon our first-round pick will get involved in a complex deal, and I don't want that.

Think: Toumpas, Hunt, etc. Hunt is a bit different to Toumpas being younger and not as physically developed. Hopefully Toumpas has a breakout year in 2016 and we keep Hunt for at least another year, to give him the chance to develop.

Daniel Cross modelled this brilliantly for our younger players.
beelzebub 23,392 Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I see it this way...and i liked Freeman for the draft. If hes in reasonable knick and medically all clear....id expect the Pies would be wanting to keep him. If he isnt and yhey don't. ...why would we ?
