I look forward to Melksham make a few people on here eat humble pie. I am sure that Goodwin can spot talent better than any of us Demonlanders!

You said the same thing about Prendergast.

There's surely no way the club would offer this potato a 4 year deal.

When I read that Melksham knocked back a 2 year deal at Essendon, I thought he's insane. When I read that we have offered him a 4 year deal, I knew we're incompetent. Ranks with Pederen's 3 year deal for stupidity.

Interesting comparison - while he is no world beater, Pedersen has been very handy for us in plenty of games. Dean Terlich's contract is a far better comparison. Or Matt Jones' for that matter.

This.

Pedo has been handy for us. Hope he stays on next year.

Pedersen was a very good foil for Hogan earlier in the year and whilst he is limited, does the best with what he has. Strong pair of hands and runs his heart out.

Better option than Dawes and anything else we have at the moment IMO.

So long as we don't give away our second rounder for him, then no harm.

I would hate to give away our second rounder only to miss out on Lovell.
I think Essendon will ask for our second rounder, I just hope we aren't going to give it up for Melksham.

I'd prefer to bring back Cale Morton.

Wot the! O.o

Handy for last two years.

Was putrid in his first year, almost had contract torn up, instead he was told to pull his finger out or he would never see the third year of the contract, which to his credit, he did

Unless I am blind I can't see anything in this link saying Melbourne is interested in Melksham?

"AFL.com.au revealed on Tuesday that Essendon has offered Jake Melksham a new two-year deal, but the 24-year-old is weighing up his future amid interest from clubs including St Kilda and Carlton."

I use to have this view too. Unfortunately I've seen this club stuff up so many times that I have learnt to trust my own instincts and opinions.

Do you think the club got it right offering Terlich a long contract? We will have to either pay it out or have him taking up a spot on the list next year.

Do you think Roo's got the weekly team selection right each time this year?

People make mistakes all the time. Roo's and Goodwin arn't exempt from this.

If you think Melksham will be a good pickup then let your opinion be known. But I will stand by mine.

The article has been edited, it did say that Melbourne had put forward a four year deal to him.

I guess that's what happens when your source is BigFooty.

It has been edited out! It was there earlier today!

Obviously Todd Viney read it, choked on his steak and called to get a retraction.

I hope this is not true.

What a great night!

The Hawks get smashed.

Frawley plays a putrid game.

Viney, McDonald & Hogan make top 5 in our B&F

And most important, the article referencing us to the Melksham trade has been amended to another club!

What makes it even better is that Carlton is one of those clubs now "interested".

I generally don't claim to know much, but one thing I do know, and will go on the record as saying, is that Melksham is not a shadow of a footballer and I'll loose my [censored] if we trade him in.

Can't see where it mentions us offering him 4 years in the above link. I don't want anyone from Essendon especially Melksham who is a bland type of footballer.

I kid you not this article, as others have stated, originally stated that we had a 4 year contact in front of him! Hell I don't even mind if you think I made this all up, I'm just relieved that its not happening (most likely). Check Bigfooty, people going bananas about it there and people on bomberblitz having a laugh at our previously perceived stupidity.

Best trade period ever. Anything else now is a bonus.

I can normally rationalise and mount an argument for any player we're linked to at this time of year, but I can't even begin with Melksham. Would be up there with drafting Gary Moorcroft all those years ago.

You didn't make it up - I saw it too

Flabbergasted

I actually would rather have Cale Morton back

This thread is still going?

Please. Our recruitment team is no longer infested by morons.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
