Some serious questions need to be asked about our supporters and the media

Hell No! it ain't us that runs out each week.

And can you tell me what is wrong with Point 6 please?

It is us that contributes to the mass negativity though and that can't be a good thing.

Point 6 is an each to their own point, it is the same as those who can pick which side of a hill the grapes were grown to make their wine.

I agree with Kent about the pace and swagger.

Hogan def has the swagger.

Stay the course... The course is nine fuckin years long! We have stuck the course better than any other supporter group pretty much.

It's past time we supporters stay the course and about bloody time the club got its arse into gear and got on the freakin course.

Whilst I agree with a lot said, it's time the club knew that our patience is very very thin and we won't put up with crud the players have gotten away with for faaaaaar too long.

This is more it.

The MFC has to win back supporters now without talk

Just do it. Get rid of the mentally weak in 2 weeks time and build respect

That is the only way it will happen.

This is the classic Chicken and Egg.

Do you think if we could suddenly swap all the MFC supporters to Hawthorn and vice versa that the MFC side would start winning most of their games?

Pretty hard to "stay the course" when the players dish up a first half like last sunday.

That is inexcusable on any level

The players have to be prepared to get dirty and spill some blood.

For yhat they are well paid and respected

I do agree. We must forge our own path

Boohoo. It's a bit hard.

Suck it up.

Yep, I'm pretty sure that all of this club's problems are the fault of the supporter base. You know, those people who hand over their hard earned money each year to watch their club play football. The same club who happily takes said money each year and delivers nothing in return.

As for the media, I don't think they have any relevance to anything.

Obviously not, but it comes down to out right negativity, which is never constructive, and balanced and thought out criticism.

Negativity if far too easy to wallow in and is generally a self fulfilling prophecy. I have no doubt the pervading negative attitude around the club (of which we are a part) has lead to us loosing some games.

Thank god you've pointed out that it's the supporters' fault that we're so [censored] because we love this club and give them money each year. Here I was thinking that the players and coaches might have something to do with it.

Do you think we should all walk away and let the club fend for itself? Clearly Roos would prefer that the supporters don't care enough that they bother him with emails each week. Maybe everyone would be better off if the club had no supporters and they didn't have to worry about keeping anyone happy. Then the supporters could get on with their lives and the players and coaches can get paid a fortune to do sweet FA and live in peace.

While I am generally happy with Paul Roos he is an absolute genius in deflecting any serious review or criticism of his own performance. Instead of whining about supporters & players he should have a serious look at decisions made by the Brains Trust this year. Some of them have stunk to high heaven.

It's quite simple... Win games of footy and the 'veil of negativity' ceases to exist. In actual fact I believe questioning the supporters positivity is offensive. Despite all the pain the team has dragged us through we are consistently the loudest and most passionate fans on match day. We aren't the ones on the field running around like pansys picking and choosing when they can be bothered showing pride in the jumper.

No they do. Because dumb blokey pub talk on SEN and the like actually infiltrate the brain of the simpleton. Then without anything more than superficial half-thought, the simpleton simply regurgitates it.

We heard it in cricket with left hand - right hand combos. We heard it in politics with the school hall funding 'disaster'. We hear it everywhere all the time.

So that's a no then?

The media scrutiny is a by-product of being [censored]. They will always be there following train wrecks, wins make them irrelevant, that's a fact

When you say 'Introverts' I think of inertia.

When you say 'ego and strut' I think of confidence and boldness with the footy.

I think it is more important than this lack of speed that we have.

As for the need to think in the Grey - I couldn't agree more.

At one point this season there were people who thought we could win 9 of our last 10 games, and now we have people who would like to remove the coach a year early.

Hopping from one extreme to the other based on the performance of 22 evidently emotionally challenged individuals is ignoring the grey truth.

I hear introvert and think focused on the task at hand and not letting their team mates down, think Michael Jordan.

I hear extrovert and I think arrogant and self absorbed, think Bredan Fevola.

There is a place for both in a team but introverts are usually misunderstood. They are team players, they do mix with the team and lead very well, they just don't do so well outside of the team and aren't put in front of the media for these reasons.

In reality you need a mix of both in your team, swagger certainly has its place but can be as destructive, if not more so than the opposite, it is often the introverts who can balance the ship, they just don't get noticed doing it and don't seek the gratitude for doing so.

Not for me Chris you have to be playing to be blamed.

I think your contribution definitely adds to the equation, but when we are an entity that is infiltrated by introverts, who play introverted footy, Houston we have a problem.

There is no way an introvert would do what a 19 year old Luke Hodge did to the Lions in their prime.

You could say Stephen Waugh was an introvert in a social sense, and you would be correct. But he had the eye-of-the-tiger, a win-at-all-costs approach, white-line fever who was happy to sledge a 7 foot man with red in his eyes and his right hand. But the difference is this, Waugh had extroverts (in Warne etc..) around him.

Finally, I am no NBA tragic, and would trip over Jordan in the street, but don't tell me he didn't have swagger, and supreme self-confidence.

Interesting OP. Two things:

- Thank god we have Brayshaw. The kid looks to be many things, but an introvert is not one of them. If Viney isn't the future captain of the club then Gus looks next in line to me. What we need is three or four more like him. But I maintain that the recent finger pointing at Jones isn't far short of disgraceful. Jones is not the problem with this club.

- I can accept that "speed kills us", but I can't accept that as an explanation for the first half massacre at the hands of Carlton. They aren't fast, be it leg speed or ball movement. They beat us at what is supposedly our own game by being more ferocious at the contest and closing down space. But we absolutely do need more run and dare. Kent and Petracca's return will be a good start.

I am not having a go at you P-man.

I have read numerous comments about Petracca this year.

He has not played a single game yet at senior level be that VFL or AFL.

The signs look good but there is not guarantee he will be a star player.

Can we just wait and see before proclaiming him the greatest thing since slice bread.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
