Fcuk, can the mods make this a poll...oh and put it into the right place...

I really shouldn't drink so much.....my bad...serious question though..

Who would you prefer to be a future captain of the Dees at this stage of their careers...?

Options...

Tom McDonald

Angus Brayshaw

Jack Watts

Jesse Hogan

Dom Tyson

Jack Viney

Christian Salem

Aaron Vandenberg

Dean Kent

Haha!

Yeah Viney/Brayshaw, but you which one captain & vice captain you could go either way.

Tom McDonald & Alex Neal-Bullen have leadership group stamped all over them.

There's the makings of a great group of leaders coming through. Already shown calm heads, refusal to give up, and willingness to play according to the team.

Hard to say who will emerge as the next captain. Two years from now we could be saying Jack Trengove again.

I'm actually a fan of Watts in general, but to have him as one of your options gave me my laugh for the day. Thanks.

I was laughing when I put him in there, although some would rate him higher than others....hey mods can you make this a poll for me and move it into the other board...

After Jones retires it will be Brayshaw by the length of the Flemington strait.

To me it's down to three, Hogan, Viney & Brayshaw...

For me it's Definately got to be Hogan, based on his work rate and competitiveness...

You'd think Viney would be ahead of Brayshaw. Knowing our luck, Brayshaw will turn into Brock McLean.

After today I think we need to give serious consideration to making Cross captain for a year , Brayshaw VC and possibly Jesse Hogan DVC

Chunky Jones Might appreciate concentrating on becoming a better footballer without the Captaincy hanging around his neck.

Thoughts??

Hilarious. Jones was injured so he loses the captaincy? We are lucky to have had Cross but we will be luckier still to get another 22 games out of him next year. No point putting our young kids under the pump and make the same mistake we did with Trengove....

Let's put Viney in the ring with gus.

Last man standing is the winner.

Some might argue that 20-year-olds are better served by being allowed to concentrate on developing their game, than are 200-game veteran 27 year olds.

Some might suggest that selecting 20/21 year old captains doesn't have a great recent track record.

Some might argue [censored] the [censored] off with your sniping at Jones for having a few bad games in a poor season. Still clearly an excellent player who does not shirk and is a genuine role model for professionalism, commitment and culture.

And might well be the best we have got!

I don't really see any serious contenders in our current squad. Perhaps Max Gawn, but reckon we'll need to buy one in.

Nathan Jones is the best leader we have at the club right now, I think in time one of the young mids will take his mantle.

I really like the idea of a Jesse Hogan/ Tommy Mac co Captaincy.

My question is, when you have a team of introverts and followers, why do what every other team does and pick a leadership group?

Roosy says you shouldn't pick guys for a game, unless they are pushing the door down at Casey. The same should have applied in relation to leadership.

We haven't seen enough of Kent, but he is no doubt, an un-Melbourne like player that we need. Burst, intensity. The rare combo of speed and power.

"Roosy says you shouldn't pick guys for a game, unless they are pushing the door down at Casey."

In which case How did Oscar Mc Donald get a game??

Why didn't both Riley and White get games as they have shown more than O Mac!

Lets be consistent!

So does that mean we should be playing other spuds like Terlich and Mckenzie who have been more consistent then Riley and white Edited by dazzledavey36

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
