Round 23

I had visions of us copping the 4.40pm Sunday timeslot. 1.10pm is a much better outcome, even if that is Father's Day.

Even with the early start, playing the Giants at Etihad in round 23 on Fathers Day could still set a record low attendance. At least the weather won't be an excuse.

Friday, September 4
Richmond v North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, 7.50pm AEST (Channel 7)

Saturday, September 5
Geelong v Adelaide at Simonds Stadium, 1.05pm AEST (Fox Sports)
Brisbane Lions v Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, 1.45pm AEST (Channel 7)
Port Adelaide v Fremantle at Adelaide Oval, 3.20pm ACST (Fox Sports)
Hawthorn v Carlton at the MCG, 4.40pm AEST (Fox Sports)
West Coast v St Kilda at Domain Stadium, 5.40pm AWST (Channel 7)
Sydney Swans v Gold Coast at the SCG, 7.20pm AEST (Fox Sports)

Sunday, September 6
Melbourne v GWS at Etihad Stadium, 1.10pm AEST (Fox Sports)
Collingwood v Essendon at the MCG, 3.20pm AEST (Channel 7)

I'll be there assuming my 2nd child isn't born by then.

Try and finish the year with a win for the first time since the Kreuzer Cup I believe?

And another win at Doglands- on top of our round 20 win there over the Bulldogs of which I am extremely confident. !!

Definitely a no go for me.

My daughters want to take me to the pies v Dons for Father's Day.

They must really want me to suffer.

What have I done to deserve this?

they do know you are a dees supporter, right?

I said to my dad we will take you to etihad for fathers day. The crowd will be interesting. 1:10 on fathers day at etihad. Im not expecting a lot. But then I remembered for the first time I can scan my membership so I get in for free. It may be the last time well it will be see some players run around in the red and blue.

The lovely is due in the 14th with our first. Here is hope the little buddy is early and I get to take him to his first game on fathers day.

Which day is it again? Daughters' day? Can't you meet them at the G after the game at Ethiad?

Something tells me you have failed as a father.

May well be the last match I get to watch live until August next year, so I'll definitely be there

I doubt my dad would like to do anything more on Father's Day than go to Shitehad stadium, sit on the roof when the ground level is empty, and watch us lose to GWS.

What a golden child I am!

Oh we got Sunday at Etihad eh? Somebody needs to check that big dice they roll to decide these things cos goshdarnit we always seem to get unlucky

last time i went to etihad for an away game, bought ga at gate. they offered me a reserve seat on level 1 in the "melb area" which was near the cheer squad

i even got to pick my seat (roughly) - all for no extra charge

i was surprised

so i expect being a home game you could probably do the same.....but check with club first

Anyone else want to storm the medallion club seats and see just how many security guards it takes to stop us? Worse thing that can happen is probably getting kicked out and being saved the pain of watching us lose to GWS.

By the way if GWS sneak an upset win either of Port or Sydney as well as getting the job done against Carl and Essendon then they'll likely be playing to make the 8.

If we do them a massive favour and beat North this week then they could be as high as 7th by the end of this round as well.

How nice that they schedule the filth and the drug cheats at the "G" on the same day and the Hawks and the Blues at the "G" the day before. Lovely the way the AFL schedules us with a "home game" against GWS at Etihad, I don't think!

The only redeeming feature is that GWS may not like playing there any more than us and it may be a chance for us to break the hoodoo.

Still, at least we have won two significant "away games" this year in our win against the Cats at the Cattery followed up by our decisive away victory against the Pies last weekend!

Will be my last game for a while that I attend, seeing as I'm buggering off to England for 5 years, perhaps even forever. One last time in the demon army squad won't go astray.

Could well be the game that determines if GWS play finals this year.

Oh boy, wouldn't that be delicious?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
