For a long period of time many on this site have questioned the way we have or should I say have not developed our list over time.

I take this current example and really have to start scratching my head at the announced teams at Casey this weekend.

On the strength of this report from Justin Plapp young Mitch White was selected as interchange "FROM" for the main Casey team and included in the development team.

Mitch White: I thought Mitch was probably our best player on the day. He was really solid in the conditions. They weren’t going to be easy conditions to play in. He ended up having 17 possessions, four tackles and kicked two goals from half-back, when he worked down the ground. He was really proactive, competed well and beat his opponent. I felt that it was his best game for the club so far, which is a credit to the kid. He keeps improving each week, so I was really pleased with Mitch.

Now he may yet still play in the main game but my question is, given this write up and our need to continue to develop our list surely, surely there would not have been any doubt that this player deserved a game at Casey??

Sheeit even though a rookie I had him in our main team today at the "G"

Now I have seen him play and I he is a beautiful left foot precise kick, reads the play very well, has a red hot go and backs himself.

So Back to my original headline tag "Dubious Development"?

You are basing this on the fact he was named on the 'extended' interchange for Casey? You do realise even players named on the bench for the AFL side are also named in the Casey side as well until it is finalised?

You're talking dribble again picket. We need to buy you a bib.

Maybe the football department are doing this so he doesn't get ahead of himself? Much like they're doing with our clearance set-ups where our players stand behind their opponents so that not only do they not get ahead of themselves - they don't get ahead of others as well.

Seriously mate, do you ever read the Casey teams?

They always look like this.

Take no notice until they line up on the day, the teams are put out to satisfy AFL/VFL requirements. They bare no resemblance to the team that runs out on the day.

You can expect to see White pushing for AFL selection in a few weeks.

I noticed this too. Given that a couple of players were named in both the seniors and the Casey side, I assumed that when the final team was put up he'd be there, but it is a bit of a kick in the teeth for a young guy who's playing really well that they keep listing him on the fringes of the Casey side. Given the way he's played lately he certainly deserves the token acknowledgement of being named in the starting line-up.

I doubt he looks that closely at it. He'd know his place in the world; he probably doesn't even look at it at all.

Exactly the same thing happened with Harmes for Sunday Casey games too - named on the extended bench and on the field in the Dev league, while he was in excellent form, and indeed right up until the week he was promoted off the rookie list. I doubt young James' teeth are feeling all that kicked at the moment.

Vanders, Harmes, Neal-Bullen all named in the original Casey team with the 9 man bench.

That now becomes a 6 man bench for 5 spots (4 + the one 23rd play spot).

Or in other words White is almost certain to play. Thanks for making me open the interestingly titled threat worried we were making some terrible mistake before seeing there's nothing to it.

do You really think you are a better DeeVelopment Coach, than the current Roosy formed ticket, to bring this club back into the current timeframe, this Millenium 2000+, & beyond.

IMO you, cannot compare the Roos ticket, to those who have gone before, in recent millennia?

& so, you cannot say that the recent retirement of Stone, will be the end of the developed Mfc footy world ?

by contrast, IMO, Stone would not have left us, without a qualified suitable replacement for his students. the AFL will be expecting just this.

what we need if people cannot see the improvement taking place in players like Watts, Hogan, Tmac, Jetta, gawn, toump, & others, to yet stick up their hands. is we need to be settled & to be stable in our current progressive growth.

..... slowly & steadily, growing toward the oncoming future, which is driving itself towards us, & our future. together, we can explore the Big Bang, as it lands upon us in the near future.

Must be great having inside info Dazzle!

some insiders are full of horse shute shyte. especially the wons who pulled players from the Casey availability list, in finals years gone recently bye, & the Casey supporters who gave of their time, & of their emotions; over the years, to only witness the list capitulation of Demon players, extracted from availability to the Casey scorpions, for their Finals campaign.

lets hope old values grow some balls, & return back into fashion.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
