Hideous win. One goal after half time.

Poor effort in the second half and some truly revolting ball use.

Nothing to get excited about, but we take the win and move on.

I've been to some ordinary games of footy over the years, but that sits on top of the list

That was awful to watch

To those questioning JKH, I don't disagree with you but remember, we got him with our last pick in the draft for a reason. If he doesn't turn out to be the player we'd hoped then it's not too surprising.

I'm excited about the form of Gawn. Six weeks ago everyone was saying we need to find a ruckman trade period. Maxys emergence has filled another hole in the list.

Also excited about how good Hogan is and will be.

I'm happy enough with a win today ,after all beggars can't be to choosers. However games like this raise serious questions about the direction of the game. Games of this quality are becoming the norm these days rather than the exception. Classic games of footy are few and far between.

Boring as bat crap that was. I went and played basketball cause I was gonna fall asleep. Brisbane had the silky skills of a auskick team and we obviously don't like to [censored] a team. But we find a way to win the games that don't mean much so yay 4 points for no real reason.

Promising today were the games of whipping boys Howe and Dawes, definitely helped set up from the get go. Also, Viney made Rockliff non existent for most of the game and we had promising form from all of our defence (although we should've since the Lions had no forward line). Not much to gloat about though. Plenty of poor kicking by our midfield. Great to see Stef Martin dropping marks too

Last week was a sh!tty, scrappy game where we got out-scrapped. And their key forward managed to get a bag. Difference between the sides.

This week: a sh!tty, scrappy game where we out-scrapped them. And our key forward managed a bag.

It's a long season. That thread about how you started barracking for the Demons reminded me of the Northey years where we played many many sh!tty scrappy games even when we were one of the top teams and winning most weeks.

You can't have scintillating champagne football every week. This was a non-scintillating, non-champagne week. And we won. So suck on that. We won!

I will celebrate. Go Demons!!!

This side seriously just does not know how to win. Played a good first quarter then lapsed into the same football as last week. Playing to save the game rather than win it. Its more the mindset than lack of ability

Yep, very happy i made a last minute decision to stay home due to a virus.

Whilst it was ugly, skills at times deplorable from both sides, this had Port n GWS matches written all over it in the 3rd. They were on a roll and we stayed composed whereas it had glimpses of us rolling over.

Big Max has had an amazing month. He has the confidence in his ability now and i reckon he doubted himself previously. Big future awaits he is still very young in ruckman terms. Impressed with Harmes, definitley stays on the list next year. vDB is very important for us, one of the best no name low profile recruits in 20 years.

A lot on here thought we would lose. We put them to the sword in the first as we got the ball and moved it forward with efficiency. They then played better and we played circuit work and lairised when we had opportunity. Hogan and Gawn the difference. Good confidence builder for Howe and Dawes. Stretch and Harmes took another step in their development. Defensively I thought it was the best we had spread and held position for 4 quarters. Offensively we were horrid in the second half.

Another 4 points. Now 5 wins. I'll take it.

But we won, over the past few years (or even this season) we would screw up after the 1st quarter and lose. It was an atrocious game from both sides but the four points are ours.

Good summary

My thought exactly - lets just take the win and move on

Really need to clean up ball use in the offseason. Made so many costly mistakes which cost us what would have been easy goals.

Can we make it 2 in a row? I'm going to stick with no

No Hanley for the majority of the game.

Beams was playing under duress of a shoulder injury.

Viney blanketed Rocky.

Three huge factors that helped us get over the line.

Remember GWS and Port, we led by 5 goals in both those games. If someone said you would scrap out at a 24 point win in either of those games you would take it in a heartbeat. I know Brisbane are rubbish and ideally we would have won by more, but good to see us lock up a lead and win comfortably.

You lot need a different hobby. The team did what they had to to win. Yesterday you would have been thrilled to beat Brisbane by four goals. Today we get the win and all anyone can talk about is that it was ugly footy and we didn't win by enough? I don't know about the team, but this club certainly has some of the worst supporters in the league.

He showed promise at different stages in his debut year. I'm putting it down to second year blues, for now.

Give him another year for development AF. He tried to take the game on a couple of times and was caught out. More through inexperience than anything else I think.

He's still young and has physical development to come. Let's see.

He was never that good. Slow and one dimensional. Unreliable down back and not clean enough. Jamie Bennell 2.0 but without the pace. Only in the side because of Kent.

I fear so, but I guess I've gotta give him a season or two more to see whether he progresses, but let's just say for the moment, I'm not sold.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
