What is the salary cap these days.

I reckon with the salaries above we could buy Frei or Hawks.

As usual Stu, you snipe without adding anything of substance. What's amiss with paying N Jones 800k or Hogan 650k. Put your [censored] on the line Stu!!

You mean apart from the fact the cap is $10 million and these salaries add up to nearly $18 million?

Edit - Had to add an edit about how effing hilarious it is you would accuse anyone else of sniping when all you do is follow me around... Amazing stuff.

My question was "What's amiss with paying N Jones 800k or Hogan 650k". See post 3.

I am unable to make it much simpler

I hate to jump into a riveting argument, but there is nothing amiss with paying either of those guys that - except as Stuie mentioned he is waaaaay over the salary cap with the rest. You can't have both.

That is my point Wise (see post 9) nothing "riveting" or sophisticated. However, you just have to keep it very simple for Stu.

This would be a more interesting discussion if the total was constrained by the notional salary cap for 2016. I made it 8 million by the time I got down to vandenBerg. Maybe it wouldn't be an interesting discussion anyway.

My last post on this because I'm sick of dealing with a simpleton.

I will change my clearly stated question. Based on Henrietta's hypothetical do have a problem with paying " N Jones 800k or Hogan 650k" ?

I did not bring in salary caps or any other issues, that was the substance of my question.

Oh why didn't you tell me that the salary cap was no object... Let's pay everyone $10 million each

So to add a bit more "reality" into it.

I've actually added in the mandatory payments for 2nd year, 1st year and rookie listed players.

And I've taken into account the incentive of match payments. if a player plays every game for a year, they get an extra $77,000

For that reason, for simplistic sake, I've treated it like "100K" deducted.

On what I would pay/what I think they're on, I've listed it out below.

N.Jones 600000 B.Vince 600000 J.Hogan 400000 T.Mcdonald 350000 L.Dunn 350000 J.Viney 350000 D.Tyson 350000 D.Cross 200000 N.Jetta 200000 J.Garlett 300000 H.Lumumba 300000 A.Brayshaw 71515 A.Vandenberg 55440 C.Dawes 400000 C.Garland 300000 J.Watts 400000 J.Howe 200000 J.Grimes 400000 C.Pederson 200000 D.Kent 150000 C.Salem 72970 J.Kennedy-Harris 62695 S.Frost 80815 M.Gawn 100000 J.Spencer 100000 M.Jamar 200000 M.Jones 80815 C.Petracca 71515 R.Bail 80815 J.Toumpas 100000 J.Trengove 100000 B.Newton 80815 B.Stretch 61610 A.Neal-Bullen 65000 A.Riley 80815 V.Michie 80815 J.Mckenzie 80815 J.Fitzpatrick 80815 D.Terlich 80815 J.Hunt 62695 M.King 55440 M.White 55440 O.Mcdonald 61610 J.Harmes 55440

Salary Cap: $9,921000

Total payments: $8,128,705

Match payments: $1,694,000 (assume 22 players x 22 games x $3500)

Remaining: $98,295

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
