If Paul Roos can't land a young U 26 star mid in this period he has failed miserably in that department

Lol get a load of this bloke.

Might be time to start the 'Big Fish' thread.

'I'va Worn Smith' has foreshadowed this in another thread. He rated his source a 7/10.

So it is worth getting a little excited!

He tells us we will know more after the GF  but then this could mean at the end of Trade Week

Hoping it is sooner rather than later.

It could be that Barrett has been reading i'va's posts here on DL...it pleases me a great deal that the likes of Purple cannot find out what is going on at the Dees...

The thing that is also good about the 'silence' is that the relevant player manager is also keeping 'mum'...it is often these guys that leak rather than the clubs or players.

This gets me excited, massive play from left field. I salivate at the prospects.

Big Fish could be someone out of left field like a Tom Mitchell,Hannebrry,Josh Kennedy.

Or maybe it is some from like a Bennell, Omeara or Prestia.

Got a gut feeling it is some one North of the border though, either a Swan, Giant, Sun or Lion.

My Guess, for what it's worth, are Kennedy and Bennell.

That would make me content.

In fact, any of those guys from up nor would do.

Ox was sounding smug about us nailing some from up north the other day.

I'd like to be wearing a smile like Roosey too. Will test my patients.

Melksham was pretty left-field

just sayin

we already know about Milkshake

This alludes to something very different

What is wrong with your patients are they sick? Tell me soon as or you will test my patience.

My contact said Sydney and Gold Coast were the targets. My source was right on two a few years back but not on last year.

Paul Salmon coming out of retirement.

In other words Barrett has NFI but thinks we must be doing something!

hell....WE have nfi but HOPE we must be doing something !! ^_^

Some significant names still OOC: Garland 26 (RFA), Hunt19, Michie 23, Howe 24, Toumpas21, Harmes® 19

The longer they are OOC the less likely they will be at the Dees.

However, Harmes is a 'must re-sign'...we need to keep Jesse's buddies at the Club!!

Jokes aside, he had some terrific games this year and he has bucket loads of what Jesse calls 'competitive edge!

So he has earnt a contract and promotion to the senior list.

Probably waiting to see how the list and # of places pan out before finalizing it.

Fully expect him to be in the Red and Blue next year!

While its always sad to see Dees players go I am slowly accepting departures are necessary to significantly improve.

Totally agree. It wasn't an attack on Barrett as such (although given the chance.....) but more that, as frustrating as it is as a supporter not I hearing anything, it is how it should be so the due diligence and negotiating is being done without external pressures. That is my belief (hope) but if I'm wrong ........ then THE END IS NIGH!

Melksham has informed the bombers he wants to be traded this coming trade period

Looks likely he is coming to us then.... I don't mind this at the right price.

Add no extra speed to an already slow midfield

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
