Cam Pedersen is a good footballer

Featured Replies

I never understood why he was dropped toward the end of last year, he was having a fine season up forward on a team with no midfield and barely any inside 50 entries and none of those entries of any quality.

He should have played every game this season, he is better than Watts and Dawes combined. He was one of our top players today vs the hawks and the sad thing is he was only in the team due to a late change.

Kicks goals, can take a contested grab, is athletic and can relief ruck. He will complement Hogan well.

Paul Roos needs to wake up and start picking the best teams each week, not just the best names on paper.

True, he is a very good footballer, in a very ordinary side.

In the words of the incomparable Jack Dyer. Just a good, ordinary footballer. Does his job.

"600thou"- Howe should join Jack Watts at Casey. His efforts today were deplorable to put it mildly!

Agree he give us more than Watts and Dawes.

He's a maybe just average footballer by AFL standards.

But you know, don't let that stop the usual "insert player here" is great/terrible on the back of half a good/bad game threads that pop up every week...

And have been for weeks.

Think you'll find I said he was good last season too.

Cheers

3 goals in a team that kicked 7, against arguably the best team, has him one of the first picked next week.

Think you'll find he's always been average and was dropped last year.

Cheers!

Can we get rid of the '[Pedersen]' filter. It's actually more annoying than people spelling his name wrong!

I agree with the OP. Pedersen had a good year last year. Perhaps his lazy efforts at times (shepherding, chasing) has kept him out of the side but he clearly offers more as a forward than Dawes.

Cons: Slow, kicks a fair share of points, doesn't chase or crumb the ball and is only the bare minimum of stop gap ruck backups.

Pros: He can tackle (if not being reckless), kicks better than a lot of others and can take a grab when he's in form.

Maybe we could've got him in to the side earlier but really I think he was finding his fitness at Casey. For better or worse he's the type of player who needs to work his way in to the season and build fitness.

The following forward line could actually produce results if given any kind of decent delivery:

HF: Brayshaw Hogan *resting mid*

FF: Garlett Pedersen Watts

Rubbish, he's played a few good games, he's played at least as many woeful ones. Played well today though.

Still puts him ahead of Watts and Dawes who are woeful nearly every week

He's showed enough to keep a spot in the side, that's for sure. Has limitations (not overly tall, slow and set shots aren't good) but he busts his gut trying, dodnt get pushed around in a contest and can take a handy mark for his size. I like him, think he's a little underrated and certainly a good role player. Worth giving 4-6 consecutive games to and seeing what becomes.

He is a role player who had a good game in a putrid side.

Agreed. When Hogan is fit and firing that's all he'll need to do. 3 goals every week'd be nice.

And he did put on the tackle that freed the ball from a hawks player that set up Garletts last goal.

He has football smarts and reads the ball well. He's still just an average footballer in a bad side, but I've liked him in 2014 and 2015. Didn't deserve to get dropped this week.

Why Dawes doesn't get dropped instead of him is beyond me.

He is just an average player who is willing to get to and impact a contest.

Similar to Cross.

Very sad when they stand out.

He showed he is far from the first to be de-listed at seasons end. Serviceable player

And he has a decent crack in the ruck too. I Like Peders, thought he was very stiff to be subbed last week too and made the most of his chance today... I expect to see a lot more of him for the rest of the year now especially on the back of both Dawes n Watts form
