We got smashed in the midfield so it's hard to justify giving any of them votes. Garlett could be unlucky not get votes but I not sure his defensive pressure warrants it (and if your a forward not providing defensive pressure then you had better be applying a LOT of scoring pressure) - we also got smashed with the ball coming out of defence.

6. McDonald - Our only defender

5. Garlett - Our only forward

4. Brayshaw - Absolute gun. Continues to impress in all aspects of the game.

3. Cross - Solid game all round.

2. Grimes - Played well on Ballentyne (I think) who had no influence.

1. Pederson - Had a real crack. Took 8 marks and contested pretty well.

Garlett's defensive pressure has been good in our first four games. He has hassled and harassed his opponents.

6:Tmac - great effort as it has been all season high on confidence and backing himself, was our best in a defence under immense pressure. Hope Oscar is as good

5:Brayshaw - love this good a competitor and showing a lot of class, could be the smokey overall for the season in NAB RS

4:Garlett - good effort should have had 4 and was our most dangerous forward

3:Cross - honest as ever and very important in stemming the bleeding with Freo bursting out of the gates

2:Dunn - was good with the pressure applied to our defence throughout the game

1:Jamar - battled hard all day against possibly best current ruck tandem in the AFL

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
